Coconut milk is one thing, but no fucking banana will ever grace my curry.

Not with the pound plummeting from 200 Yen + to a barely over 140 yen, the lowest its been for 13 years... it ain't.

I have a Zojirushi as well. Not the cheapest
t out there but bloody good rice cookers. I guess that in the UK there hard to find so they bump up the price pretty steep.

They are just plain not available here. Theres one person on ebay that i noticed imports them from hong kong. However we had plans to go on holiday and we were gonna bring one back. However to minimise our luggage we got a friend who was coming back from there on a business trip to bring it back as he only had hand luggage. Though we only had 2 days to shop and had to buy it from Sogo. Cost about £160! Still its good rice

Just had a 16,000 yen dinner last night. Good thing I wasn't the one picking up the bill!

Wow, out here where I'm at you can go to a Japanese curry place and eat for about 700 yen or so...pricier if you want spicy curry.

Then there's an Indian curry place here that you can get a great meal for 1,500yen or so. A lot cheaper the further you get from a big city :p

Even in the big city it can be had for that money, just don't walk into the first place you see.

The meal I posted on the 1st page was 650yen iirc. The cheese hamburger menu cost extra though, a regular kare (kare mud + rice) was only about 400.

Not comparable to what GP ate of course, but you can eat for that kind of money in every country. I just recall that restaurant in Paris close to Champs Elysées where they had dinner for 250€.

I think the difference is that in Japan, even a meal in the 700-1000 yen range can actually be pretty decent. Other countries that tends to be garbage.

My meal was a business dinner... the other guy's company paying. I don't spend that much on myself.
