Finally our highly anticipated Kenzei is available to order. Kenzei for those who may not heard of yet is a "Sync Combiner device", which basically merges H and V Sync signals in a VGA video source and then creates a single C-Sync video signal required for some upscalers like X-RGB and some monitor displays.

    Features:

Kenzei has a VGA (HD15) female connectorfor the video input and RCA Stereo jacks for the audio input. It outputs video through female Euro Scart connector and separate RCA jacks (RGBS). Scart provides stereo output too.

Kenzei requires a power source, there are 2 options,
    1. an AC adapter (9-12v) with a central positive, barrel negative, 5.5mm x 2.1mm plug. It's not bundled for not increasing the cost. It can be found on the Ebay easily. Kenzei internally reduces these higher voltages to a regulated 5v.
    2. Pin 9 (5v) of your VGA source, however it's not reliable because not all VGA cables have that pin wired. Also early Hanzo & Kuro models don't have too, only the ones built after 2014 have it (aka Hanzo MK3)... You can also modify your VGA box to have it, very simple fix...

So you can choose whichever source you want by the help of a switch.

Scart connector can be used either for input or output which means you can choose pin 1 & 3 for the audio output and pin 19 for the video output or you can choose pin 2 & 6 for the audio input and pin 20 for the video input. You can set these via jumpersaccording to the cables used.

It has a blue power led. It comes with plexiglass shells, top is clear blue with laser etched Kenzei logo, bottom is black.

    Bonus feature:
Scart to RCA RGBS or vice versa pass-through conversion
so you can connect a scart cable to the Kenzei to get separate RCA RGBS outputs for connecting to a monitor/converter (e.q Sony PVM), opposite is also possible.

Kenzei costs $55 + shipping. Airmail shipping with a tracking number is $5. Prices are in USD.

Nice setup you've got there :)

Will be in touch soon to order one of these and a few Hanzos.

480i? I thought the GC VGA cable was only capable of outputting 480p. And why would you want to use 480i when you have the ability to output 480p?

Not all displays can show 15khz through VGA, so even the GC boot intro can't be seen on them. As you know while booting a GC game you can choose between progressive scan or interlaced mode. Until that screen nothing show up on non compatible displays. So it's not the cable but TV/monitor compatibility problem.
This is just to show that you can use that mode with the scart output of Kenzei. Also some games may not support this or games in Pal region? BTW I always use 480p and NTSC consoles... Interestingly Europeans prefer to convert those cables to Scart only most of the time.

I'm not very good at understanding all these sync stuff. Are you suggesting that Kenzie is almost good as X-RGB Framemesister like Yakumo is selling on this site?

Very interesting but tempting to buy it since I already have a Sony PVM.

    No, they are different things.
you need a Kenzei + Hanzo (or other VGA boxes) when you want to connect a DC to the Xrgb, you can't connect a DC alone directly to the XRGB. It's not an upscaler, just a sync combiner device, which makes the signal compatible with the XRGB...

    Hey Beharius,

I'd like to order a Kenzei, Hanzo and Scanliner cable. Total cost shipped to the USA? Where should I send Paypal (assuming you don't take bitcoin)?

    Thanks!

So could this work as a scart -> YPRPB converter? just curious.

No it's not component, it's pure RGBS in RCA.

So I can't input scart and switch it over to RCA?
