    1. tripod in your back seat
    2. strap it in
    3. drive in mountains
    4. ????????
    5. profit!

    Specs on Impreza?

Also, I've wondered what Japanese law is about car customizations like extraneous lighting (ricer-style) and loud subwoofers. Blue headlights?

I'm 6'3". My huge balls are always more of a nuissance when driving than my long legs.

True, true. see all big mercs, bmw, lexus with their auto boxes and huge price tags that are only within the reaches of old men.

The same theory as driving for many miles on a motorway, the mind switches off and auto pilot takes over.

Not sure a general "it makes them more dangerous" is completely fair but there are certainly times when i would agree with the statement.

Being from good ol' England and being a big fan of driving/riding i had only ever driven a manual until last summer when we borrowed the gf's sisters C3 auto to drive from Madrid to Alacante and to be fair i really liked it. Particularly driving through Madrid where not having the worry about gear changes was a big bonus.

To take the thread off on an even wider tangent are their any bikers (moto) on here? If so would you care to discuss the merits of motorcycle riding experience for car drivers.

And just to take it back close to the OP.

£50 is a bit of a result. If that were back in the UK you would have had your pants pulled down, sure that is instant ban territory, 75mph in a 30mph zone.

    http://jalopnik.com/5173322/first-2009-nissan-gt+r-crash-caught-on-video

A gentleman with more money than driving ability killing his shinny new toy by racing somebody who clearly knows the roads much better...at night.

GTRs aren't THAT expensive... but I guess it can be said that it should be.

True but you dont get them inside kinder eggs either and twating one in to wall while trying to prove that your car was better than you mates despite a clear lack of knowlege of the road (and trying it at night) is something that deserves to be mocked.

Indeed. how that guy crashed is a mystery. He wasn't going that fast but then again on video it always looks slower. The corner wasn't that sharp either. I guess he just didn't know the road which if true he deserves to be mocked even more for driving at night. If you want to "race" at night on those mountain roads you MUST know the road of by heart otherwise you could be kissing your ass goodbye! A few years back a guy drove his Evo 8 right off the side of the road and plummeted in to the shallow river below. Killed out right, the poor sod. According to others there he had never driven on that road before.

When I go mountain racing (which isn't that often) I do it at around 5 am in the summer. It's light enough to see well yet the roads are still deserted.
