Basically, yeah. I don't think the trajectory of this device is that hard to predict - it's going to sell to parents in reasonable numbers (on account of the physical nature of play and safe-sounding, family-oriented titles), a few developers will test the water with poorly thought out adaptations of their core games before getting stung by bad reviews and worse sales, there'll be a fuckton of Wii-too third-party dross, and there'll probably be a few innovative titles in the mix that'll be worth checking out. As a late-to-market add-on, though, it's not going to set the world alight.
slightly off topic but... Toys R Us has a kinect pre-order today only (7-22) at $89 http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4313430 apply the promo code 939418 at checkout. pretty sweet deal
I want the Kinect API and drivers for my PC, I d rather improve productivity thankyouverymuch. Scrolling a page with the wave of my hand, priceless.
What, the "Page Down" key isn't fast and productive enough for you? You don't even have to take your hands off the keyboard.
Yep totally. My 45 min walk to work and 45 walk home each day just isn't doing it for my fat ass. I need kinect to save me!!!
I showed my kids some Kinect game trailers the other day, and my 4 year old daughter has decided Kinectimals is the greatest thing ever created. She really enjoys EyePet (but finds the 'magic card' fiddly at times), and now wants a pet tiger to play with. My boy wants Sonic Free Riders and also Adrenalin Misfits, which I have to agree looks like great fun. They both like the look of Adventures too, which is good as it's the pack-in software. So yeah, you're probably right: Kinectimals, little girls and Santa Claus will save the day.
Kinect will be used once by me probably : when drunk. And after that first time, I doubt it will be used again, as I see myself dying.
Have you seen Oblong's OS? I bet I can run that on the cheap using a kinect. Shit, how you do that during winter, which is 11 months of the year up there? You forgot old people, they bought the wii by the truckload. Yeah they cant move much, but that why I'm releasing "The Geezer's Old Fashioned Adventure" game:thumbsup: It has voice commands!: they can yell at kids to stay out of their yards
Luckly I live in the downtown core so it's not all bad (just water puddles here and there). I can always chicken out and jump on public transport along the way but ever since I moved to TO. I made it my mission to walk to work every day. So far i've been doing it for about 11 months and so far it's not all that bad (bar from my new shoes not being as comfy as my old ones). I have a coffee shop I stop at every morning on my way in and I usually just listen to VG Podcast on the way. I'm so use to it by now, that time goes by pretty fast. I will have to say one thing. This summer has been pretty brutal (very humid). So I always have to shower by the time I get home since I'm soaking in my sweat. OH: It's shocking how bad I am with heat up here. I'm just too built for dry heat (I'm from southern California) then wet/humid heat they get up here.
sorry but using a wired keyboard means that I need to have my arms at all times on the actual desk. I do quite a lot of design work lately so it could really help out to be able to manipulate the computer at a basic level using my arms yet still holding a real pen.
