    Hey Everyone,

Perhaps some veterans can help me out. Out of all the versions of KOF for the Neo Geo, which one:

    1. Has the most characters total.
    2. Is considered the best overall?

    If I had to hazard a guess, I would think KOF: UM would be one the better ones, but that game was released on PGM so it doesn't count (^_^);

I think '98 and 2002 are generally considered the best? 2002 is my personal favorite, it has one of the larger cast list as well.

I really loved 2002 before my bootleg MVS cart decided to stop working, leaving me with 97 which, though quite awesome, doesn't feel quite as right.

I don't know about which has the most, maybe 00 or 03. My favorite and vote for the best KoF is 98' followed by 99'. I never owned the 98' MVS cart but I did own 99'. Great game.

96 is my favourite, doesn't have a huge character line up but I love it all the same.

97 to 99 is the sweet spot.

'98...never liked the NESTS saga's "darker" color schemes and stuff, plus the new characters were generally lame. I'm pretty sure 2002 has a little more characters, but overall I'd pick '98 as the best KoF on Neo Geo, and '98 UM or Dream Match 1999 as the best overall.

I really liked Dream Match '99 on the Dreamcast. Wasn't until a couple of years later when I had a Neo that I realised it was in fact '98 that I'd been playing all that time. Never had the chance to play either of the UM versions unfortunately but I'm sure they're excellent.

So yeah, '98 or '02. Or DM '99. R-2 on the Neo Pocket is also pretty good too.

I played KoF 98 Ultimate Match on PS2, good stuff. But it's KoF 98, so they'd have to try to make it suck somehow for it to not be as good as the original, and the game includes the NeoGeo original KoF 98 version too. Definitely a game worth picking up for your PS2.

Mmmmm I'd say no. 98 UM was on the X2 or something weird, right?

King of Fighters 98 is considered the best and most balanced but if your gonna play an SNK fighter Garou Mark Of The Wolves all the way

'98 UM was on Taito's Type X. '98 UM: Hero is on the PGM 2. I'm sure I read somewhere that '02 UM is coming to the PGM 2 as well.

I just want them both on PSN.

I just wonder why they didn't put in the 3D backgrounds from Dream Match 99 since it was on the Type X. Wait, '98 UM isn't on PSN? It's been on XBLA for months and I've heard that '02 UM is coming to XBLA in the summer.

2002, indeed, is the best one. 98 was pretty good back in the day, too, and I recall playing it a lot.

Am I the only person that liked XI and XII? They're not as good as 2002, but they sure are very pretty. XI is better than XII, but I'm looking forward to the announced XIII.
