Krypton controller from august 2006 ??

Hi !
I received this controller today with a console. I thought that the Krypton controllers were prototypes but this one dates from 2006-07-31...

 

Maybe the internals of a Krypton were moved a retail 360 wired controller shell?

Do retail 360 controllers have Krypton stamped on the boards by chance?

Your wired controller is a later model - I don't have one here to check, but I can remember the first production wired controllers being pretty much identical to the later prototypes.

I suspect they had a number of prototype controller PCBs left over, and rather than scrapping them they were reworked to final production spec and assembled into final plastics. This would also explain the discrepancy between the 2005 copyright date on the PCB and the mid-2006 date on the label on the back.

I picked up two kits yesterday from a source of mine. Both kits came with everything they would have in the box one of those kits is a zephyr test kit. Both came from a well known Studio. The zephyr came with one of these controllers still have to open it and take pictures. I think what @TriMesh said is correct. Sense the date from the zephyr is around that time.
