PS3's flagship title and the only hope it had for me to buy one, got a 4.9 That's gotta sting. I cant blame factor 5 though, because they are techies - not much of game makers besides the two first rogue squadrons though lately. This also signifies an unexpected let-down domino of events, leading (in my view) to lower than expected sales of the ps3 at the time of the title's release.
Yeah, the best reviews I've seen for this are mediocre ones. I sold a PS3 yesterday and the dude bought Lair along with it. I felt so bad. :-( Then again, I feel bad anytime I sell a PS3. :-(
Quite a few places are hailing Warhawk as a great game, which is actually pretty cheap for a PS3 game. I would pick it up if my bank wasn't being anal about things right now...
Warhawk looks like a PS2 game mostly - or is it me? Also, is it possible that the developers of Warhawk nailed the controls, whereas Factor5 didn't? This would be very surprising to me.
That's funny IGN saying we clearly haven't played a game they reviewed. Neither have they most of the time.
A great shame, I was looking forward to picking that one up one day. Still, only one of a number of games I am interested in on the PS3.
As far as I know, Lair is getting bad scores all around. I was interested in getting it, but it sounds like a shittier Drakengard with next gen graphics. And Drakengard is a pretty bad game to boot. And I usually have a high tolerance for shitty games. Believe me. I thought Fire Warrior was ~ok~!
Is ironic: I was pretty much indifferent about Lair, yet these reviews are such a downer... Even with my lack of interest it was one of the few games that made the purchase of a PS3 a somewhat rational decision. Now paying 600 bones looks like a bad choice...
considering GTA isn't an exclusive either, this spells crap until some PS3-only major release - MGS4?
As a PS3 owner I am not too bother about Lair, still not released until October in Japan so still time to fix some of the problems... (ho ho ho), I'm still enjoying my PS3, Everybodys Golf 5, F1 CE, Mahjong Fight Club and Virtua Fighter 5 are all fantastic. Looking forward to buying Wangan Midnight when I go back to Japan and looking forward to Gran Turismo 5 Prologue in October too. Not much else to look forward too, too many heavy Japanese titles like Sengoku Musou, Agarest and Megazone 23 and not my cup of tea either. I hope Sony have something killer to release at the end of the year or the machine is going to crash and burn. :/
I'm saying alot of game reviewers don't actually play the games they're reviewing. I know for a fact EGM reviews unfinished Code after buying a Game the Panned and reading the review for it, it was obvious they didn't play it.
I do have a hidden hope that it will do badly (the ps3). As a nintendo fanboy at heart, I had longed the days of nintendo leadership - the fact that people around me would know the games I m playing (instead of asking "what's a gamecube?") and even better, own a nintendo console. It's all about the community. I ve had it with playstation fans rant off. Other than that, the other reason i want the ps3 to do badly is so I can acquire one relatively cheap and use it as a linux box =)
sure, but ask yourself why you like buying dev.kits? it's the same sick feeling that makes me want to use a retail console in doing my homeworks
Uh... regardless of how good Lair was that would've happened anyways. Nintendo pretty much has this "gen" in the bag all around (Wii/DS). That said, Lair has been getting nasty reviews everywhere, with virtually no one praising it. So it isn't just IGN... Makes me feel really bad for that guy that bought a PS3 and Lair the other day. :-(
Well badly as it might have done it would have gained some respect for having some quality titles. As I said, I m no big PS3 fan, but i ll be damned if i dont like dragons and ass-kicking, just like the next guy. It would have been a game that appealed to any heterosexual male. I want the Wii to win the race but it hasn't just yet, in my eyes. For it to clearly "win" it has to prove itself with quality titles. The lead it holds is good to attract publishers and developers, and that's what keeps me hoping of a second SNES or even a double-n64 (content-wise compared to those eras) - not that the GC didn't have quality games, it did, but they were mere replicas of existing formulas besides certain titles. I want to re-live the legendary days of NES and SNES with all the geekiness and hype, the get-together-ing and game trading, this time around with more adult things as a side-dish ;D
