Curios to know how 1bl was obtained, rumor has it they used a lamprey

Its well known that devkits can execute with HV privs, I suppose it was found by printing it out over serial.

devkits cannot execute with HV privs without hacks, so much the same as a retail.

the 1bl was obtained using the v4532/4548 hv exploit as featured in the "kingkong" hack. this has nothing to do with the lamprey. the result could have been printed out over serial making use of the lamprey for serial conversions, but the $3 device above would do the same serial conversions. so to reiterate yet again, the lamprey is nothing special just a serial voltage level convertor.

 

Wasn't the 1bl key required to find that exploit anyway?

This was my understanding too. Rumor has it it came from Xedk.
