I bet it still has the resistive so it breaks down faster and you have to buy a new one...

The guys at kyoto sure are running out of ideas...

Don't know if anyone's answered this, but the little square under the buttons is the location for NFC. They used to have it on the screen, but the new beta contablatroller has it off to the side. Makes sense, so you can use the screen AND NFC at the same time.

I think the reason for the NFC is so you can put figurines on it and have them pop up in game. Meh, it's worth seeing what they do with it.
One thing I'm worried about is the lack of Gamecube controller support. While the Classic Controller pro is quite nice, it still has to be attached to the stupid Wiimote. I'd be so happy if they remade the gamecube remote with PS3 controller like features. Nothing replaces the Gamecube remote. Nothing.
Plus, what is Super Smash Bros without it?

Also- the WiiU is supposed to support 2 contablatrollers, not just one. So with two of those, and four wiimotes, you get 6 player multiplayer with only 4 sections on the screen. Pretty cool.
I enjoy all the info I get from my friend. Like how it's most likely going to be running a modified 48XX (I thinks a 4870) ATI card, with a modified POWER7 processor.

The computer? It's a video game console.

I'm guessing one of the little white buttons is a wireless connect button. It also appears that the analog sticks are more Gamecube-like and less circle-pad-like than the ones they showed at E3 last year.

I really think Nintendo needs to stop focusing on gimmicks and to start just focusing on coming out with a solid system. I mean I could be wrong, the Wii sold well enough but I just dont think its going to work twice in a row. I also agree with Assemblers comment about it needing to be sexed up, it looks just like a Leap Frog Pad for kids only worse because atleast the Leap Pad has color lol. Anyways, the Wii U might be good enough to sell against the existing PS3 & Xbox 360 but what about when they come out with there new systems?? All I have to say is that Nintendo better hope they sell as many systems as they can before that happens.

Nintendo is trying to capitalise on the iPad's appeal at the moment, tablets are trendy and I can't see that changing anytime soon. I agree with your point on gimmicks, quite frankly I don't see this controller in conjunction with the Wiimote being practical to offer a good gaming experience. I see too much faffing around. But that's my own opinion.

Content will drive the platform as per usual, which was a weak point of the Wii when it came to 3rd party support. I think they are striking the right note with having a substantially more powerful hardware than the Wii and being able to run mainstream game engines. PS4 or Xbox720 will most probably be more powerful, unless Nintendo makes some last minute hardware changes.

I think the biggest challenge for Sony/MS and Nintendo is to release new systems in a market that has changed dramatically over the past few years primarely due to iPhone & iPad, Android cheap game model and recession. It's going to be significantly more difficult to appeal to casual gamers who already invested in a tablet or smartphone(s) and who are now used to pay for somewhat good games way below $10 which is in good timing with the current economical climate.

I think the value perception in gaming has changed and that any amount of technology will not suffice to overcome, the big 3s will have to be seriously creative and we will see at E3 if this part of the industry will grow or decrease. There is not much excitment about 3DS and Vita albeit good sales figures for hardware I think? I see Angry Birds singing and dancing in the background!!!

I agree with Assembler that the beast looks dull, I will mention Apple one more time and then I'll stop, but these guys always come out with sexy designs and that's part of their success. The feel good, look good of a product is entirely part of the buying process.

MS, Nintendo and Sony are all a bunch of smart guys and I'm sure they have more tricks in their bags than we could imagine.

As for me I will watch carefully E3 and see which system I will select next ;)
