It's an interesting museum and for 600 yen worth it if your in the area. Not worth making a pilgramage too. It DOES have english signage though. It whitewashes the Kanto earthquake and the exhibits seem to abruptly end somewhere in the '50s.

The building looks like in an emergency it can break free and drive off.

Is that museum over by the Sumo area? Pretty sure I've seen it from the outside, but not in. Looks pretty cool, nonetheless. I'm thinking close to Suitenguumae but I could be way off.

Really awesome pictures. Would love if there were anything of that scale on Japanese history in America but we're a bit too obsessed with our own culture.

 

I know what you mean. In America, you can go to Applebees and view 1:2 scale versions of cheeseburgers. Miniatures you can taste!

 

Very awesome pictures of that museum indeed. I love museums, especially ones that have Japanese history in them. I'd get lost in places like that if I visited/lived in Japan. I'm an historical archaeology student as it is, so that is right down my ally.

I use to want to actually do archaeology in Japan, but thats just about impossible unless your a native, and even then the government keeps tight locks on things. I'll just make do with nice pictures and reading up, and whatever visits I manage to get going.

 

One of the things around the base of the Edo Museum is an old quarry or such they excavated during or prior to construction.

 

Wow very cool, thanks for that. So they found the remains of a stone wharf on the site of the museum. Is this museum near water or something? Very interesting indeed, where is this place located? I wonder what date range they ended up posting for what they found. If they were able to date it accurately that is; historical archaeological dating is an intriguing dating method, but fun also.

Indeed, it was my first trip to Tokyo back in 2008. I was so overwhelmed by the japanese energy that i didn't bought any games in one month. I just didn't had time to !! Full of restaurants, visits, meetings, sake, that was great.

Now i'm gonna live in Tokyo with my girlfriend and it's a little bit frightening. But i want to travel and try to settle somewhere else before it's too late...

Therefore i'm sure you guys in Japan still appreciate that lifestyle otherwise you wouldn't be there anymore, am i wrong ?

Hmm, the only thing keeping me here is that it's safer than the West. Far too many arse holes in the UK who don't give a shit for other peoples property and far too many thieving twats. That's the only thing keeping me here. The actual mentality of the country drives me nuts. It's like they're sheep most of the time.
