As always, some nice pictures there, DCharlie.

My son wanted to ride the train today. Unlike you guys in Tokyo we hardly ever use a train. In fact the last time I used one was 2 years ago. Anyway, we took some small 2 car train in to the middle of nowhere. Just look at how small the station is.

Notice something odd about the track? Yep, there's only one of them yet trains run in both directions. It's amazing that there's never been a head on collision.

I have been on one of those diesel-powered one-track-two-direction trains in the buttcrack of Miyazaki prefecture. It was a nice experience.

those look like wood based tracks, what's the top speed on those? Here in Poland trains run on those 20-30miles/h

The weather is still pretty nice. Yesterday it was a pleasent 18 cel'. The sun is pretty bright at this time of year. I've still to wear a coat. In fact yesterday afternoon i was wearing just a T-Shirt.

Those trains are pretty slow. I'm not sure of the top speed but I have "raced" one in my car along side the track. Even at 60kmh I was faster than it. So I'd sah that they are probably the same speed as the trains in Poland.

    Cheers fella!

Split up with the mrs and moved out of my house Friday, so not had the chance to go through the rest of the photos. Only rescued my iMac this evening, so hoping to go through the rest of the images this week.

At least it has an English sign. Here in Shimonoseki there's no English at all. Plenty of Korean, mind you.

It's misleading because nobody inside speaks English! Just Korean and Chinese.....oh, and Japanese.

The Kansai ward office had an English speaking employee.. Unfortunately she only worked part-time meaning that some days you were SOL. Also turned out to hardly speak any English at all.

Hahaha, isn't that always the case. The best ones are the help buttons or help lines for English yet they always answer in Japanese

Yeah, there are more English speakers at Ikebukuro kyabakuras (if you request one for your tourist buddy) than at the immigration office!

Yeah, I found that ironic how awful the spoken English at Immigration is.
