I had some hard parts after browsing all those old PlayStation games. Street Fighter Zero 3 for ¥500? Yes please.

I had to visit the island of Aishima again today but unlike other times I took a real camera this time, not just the crappy iPhone camera.

The weather was nice today. Can you believe from these pictures that it's November 1st!!

So first here's a few shots of the main street. As you can see there's bugger all about apart from a few homes.

There are quite a few of these little shrines dotted about the place.

There are more cats living on Aishima than people! Everywhere you look you'll see a cat.

The only job on the island, fishing.

Aishima really is small. You can walk from 1 side to the other at it's longest point in under 30 minutes. Here's a shot from it as I left at around 1:30pm.

On the way back we pass many of these small rocks sticking out of the water. Technically these are also islands.

Before We head for home though, the ferry stops off at another even smaller island to drop off supplies. There we can see the crane boats digging for rocks.

The water in this area is lovely though. Just like a real blue lagoon.

Finally we head back to Kita Kyushu but on the way there are more sights to be seen. The stretch of water between Honshu and Kyushu is always very busy mostly filled with massive cargo container ships and crane ships.

Today there was also this white Galion (sp?)

Built in the sea is one of Japan's biggest steel works. You can't actually see the shear size of it though from these pictures. It stretches on and on and on.

We all know that Japan is a very hilly country but it's not until you're out at sea do you realize just how big the hills or mountains really are. This one dwarfs the city landscape below it.

If I moved to Japan, that's exactly the sort of area I'd like to reside in.
Very Shenmue-like (reminds me of Sakuragaoka or Yamanose a bit).

Sure It would be nice there, for some days/weeks. But after that, what would you do? Keep pretending to be in Shen Mue for the rest of your days?

As long as there's a shop that has Saturn games, an arcade with vintage Sega arcade games and a cute skirt-wearing girl that wants me, I'd stay there :)

If I'd live in Japan it would be around Tokyo for sure... Osaka would be nice as well, close to Kyoto and the ocean.

I'd settle in and enjoy a quieter pace of life, I guess.
Would be a nice change of pace for me.

Yeah, I've been there only for one day (Denden Town visit) but you're right. I didn't think it was dirty because every shithole looks clean in Japan for some reason, but it sure was ugly as hell. I felt like in Tetsuo, a noisy metal-concrete-iron nightmare all around me.

That is true. Even in this part of Japan where I live, the "scum" areas are still pretty safe although they do look a bit poor.

I've been to many big cities in Japan and Osaka is by far the most ugly with the worst people.

I guess having spent 8 years in Manchester, Osaka seems like a breath of fresh air.

Shit Japan is better than OK England.

I lived in Kyoto and visited Osaka frequently, never had any problem with the people or anything.. Kansai people in general are very nice.

Osaka isn't bad at all compared to Tokyo. Osakans look unfriendly when they are quite the opposite. Tokyoites look friendly, but they are just empty and cold. The toilet bowl of Japan? Hands down, Saitama.

A good friend of mine is from Kawaguchi, and I quite like it around there.

    Dasai-tama.

I made the experience that Kansai peeps tend to be stingy.

    One ex.

Once I went for a dinner (raamen) with one of my colleagues from the Osaka branch. I ordered a beer, he didn't. I asked why? He said, we will go to have a drink after we finished dinner. Then while we were eating, he seriously asked me if he can have a gulp of my beer.
