hahaha, indeed. Having full control is something I really like. I'll look into that. The beep would come in handy since looking at a view screen isn't always 100% ideal. Saying that it does zoom the image you are focusing on so you normally can get a pin sharp shot. I like to use the manual focus when using the video option. 12mp in 1080 HD looks very nice when in focus. Just a shame the auto focus for video is a bit slow.

Well, if you use video on a DSLR, it's manual all the way. Even if it works, you've got sound issues. The new mirrorless cameras feature autofocus (I think) but not sure how they manage to get over the sound since the lens & mic are so close.

Read around about focusing screens. Basically the stock ones with even prosumer models suck shit b/c 95% of those buyers will never use manual focus. Canon's pro line (1D, 1DS, etc) have the old school style focusing screen. I got the Canon one for about 3500 yen. It's a huge step up, but manual focusing at anything wider than F4 requires me to have the beeps. It's just not good enough for something with a really shallow depth of field unless you're right up on it. Live View has a 10x magnification which is a life saver if you don't mind using LiveView for your still shots. It's a last resort for me.

Manual focus is a fucking waste of time w/ kids, btw.

I dicked around w/ a curves layer (raised the reds & blues [=purple] in the shadows) and as usual, desaturated in post. The photo was taken w/ an old 50mm Nikon from the 60's or 70's.

Nice shots GP and Yakumo. I'm back in Tokyo now, after a sweet time in Thailand. I just need to find time to take photos in JP now ;)

    That's the challenge.

Get any good lady boy shots? You know my motto: You have to respect a girl whose dick is bigger than yours.

I was out drinking last night and didn't leave the bar until 7am. On the way home this happened just after I had crossed the street!! I almost shit my self. Luckily that guy walking past at the time got out of the way. It was a good thing the city center is pretty dead at that time on a Sunday morning or there could have been a few fatalities I think.

    oh crap!.jpg

There was quite a bit of rain and wind so I'm guessing the tards that put up the scaffolding around the building didn't do a good job so the weight of the rain plus the high winds blew it down on to the monorail track and pavement below.

2 questions. How much did you pay Miss Late Night Smoke for a quicky and when did you enter the world of Blade Runner for the last pick? Fantastic stuff as always. I really do like the lady and Blade Runner shots.

Thailand was awesome thanks. I've been up to my neck in work since i got back though, so I haven't had much time to put together a "best of" album yet. No ladybody/street shots really; just focussed on having a good time and snapped whenever i remembered.

Cool shibuya photos GP. Always funny seeing places I see every day in your shots ;)

The chick was free -- I think she knew I was shooting her. There were a lot of people in teh way though. It was a 100mm lens, and all I had with me. Some people talk shit about that type of street photography, but whatever. The lens is fucking sick. No question. The Blade Runner shot is not far from where I currently live, but closer to where I used to live. It's right by Hachiman station, and the sign is from one of the longest construction projects in the history of man: giving Yamate-doori the largest sidewalk in the free world. :|

That's something I've never taken picture off before, flowers. I'll have to give it a try sometime.

Don't go on a windy day unless you want to pull your hair out in fits of frustration.

Good words of advice there. Nothing worse than blurry shots due to wind.
