From a BBC article about the game network outages on Christmas day. Hey, why don't we find a way to compensate everyone for every moment of their lives that they are not 100% happy?
The mother could and should have opened the Xbox before Christmas to test it and update it. Now if they are complaining about not getting to play online there isn't much to do about it.
You guys are really dense aren't you? How did you not hear about this, it was in the news all over. A hacker group named Lizard Squad brought down Xbox Live and PSN worldwide christmas eve night. They kept DDOSing the networks. It wasn't until Kim Dotcom (yes of Mega Upload) contacted them via twitter and provided 3,000 MEGA vouchers (worth $99 each) to get them to stop. http://www.techworm.net/2014/12/kim-dotcom-psn-xbox-live-lizard-squad.html
I knew about the DDoS attack, the only thing that I didn't knew was that Kim Dotcom gave them vouchers.
That depends on the game. Halo: Masterchief Collection won't go past the title screen without being online for example.
While i do think both Xbox Live and PSN need better infrastructure and faster issue responses, kids these days are too damn spoiled. Everything becomes such a drama. Simpsons was really ahead of it's time
I knew all about the DDos attack, and "Lizard Squad" (who are now also claiming a role in the Sony movie hack / Interview debacle), it was hard to avoid that news. My post had more to do with my dismay at 1st world problems like no Xbox Live bringing a 10 year old to tears. So no, not dense, but thanks for chiming in.
People in the UK will know that this is just another dicvkheasd parent trying to swindle some money and get her 5 minutes of fame. I hate shit like this.
Really? That's absolute bullshit. I had no idea about that. Is it similar on PS4 or just an Xbox One thing? I remember people getting all antsy when it was announced Xbox One would need to be constantly connected to the internet, and thought MS turned that off.
Sorry for not providing link to this but one guy (reportedly) from Lizard Squad said that something is wrong when people are upset if PSN or XboxLive are down and they are forced to spend their christmas with their families instead of playing video games. I thought that was well said.
Considering some of us don't have families to spend it with, it was a pretty disappointing Christmas.
A little kid wanted GTA V, and the staff told the parent it's an R18+ game. Most parents just shrug it past them, I'm sure parents wouldn't buy a kid a R18+ movie, since most R18+ are just pronography, along with your horror films. My parents were the same, they barely ever took games extremely serious with their rating, even though mind you that games were no where near as detailed as today. Everything still looked pretty cartoon like.
