I'm creating a list for my upcoming website of all M2 games that were in development (or at least planned) back then. Currently, I found proofs for the following games: In development: * Clayfighter III (Interplay) * D2 (Warp) [research failed, as Kenji Eno doesn't seem to speak English] * Disruptor (Seven) [research done] * Ironblood (Take 2 Interactive) * Power Crystal (Perceptions) [research ongoing] * IMSA World Championship Racing (Studio 3DO) Planned: * Descent (Interplay) * Return Fire 2 I know that the list is not complete yet, but I only accept proven information. So, anyone here who has something to add? If so, please give as much information as possible so that I can immediately start research, try to get in contact with the developers and so on. On a side note, the game "Power Crystal" is lost forever, sadly. :-( Still need to get in contact with Andrew Whittaker, but it's unlikely that he has something left. The programmer which I talked to hadn't, and since the dev systems went into liquidation and are long scrapped, there's virtually no chance that something survived.
Disruptor. I never heard of this game and turns out there was a PSX port of it and an M2 in the making. Was able to find someone who worked on the specific port and shot him an email. Lets hope he replies with anything productive!
Thats pretty much everything that I have on my list also. The only others that I have are: Speed Racer - Not sure who made it or if it was real. Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 - I have an old official 3do magazine somewhere at home where they boldy proclaimed that Midway had commited to the M2 with UMK3, but I don't know if that was really true or not. I have reason to believe that, at minimum, this game was almost finished for the original 3do. Just curious, but where did you find confirmation on that? I had it on the list as "possible", but never read anything more about it.
you are missing at least 3 games or so some flight simulation which name i cant remember was in development sportsgame made by the guys who created diablo (theres a interview around where they speak of crossfinancing diablo with the money they got paid for the m2 game) and something else gotta check my archive also you are missing the arcade games which could be ported over maybe in a hypthetical m2 production cycle edit: the flight simulator above quotes from this here (but i could be very wrong since what means "top gun" game: http://www.chaosmedia.com/Laurie/Resume.html konami had a m2 racing game in development: http://www.rentacoder.com/URLSEO/RentACoder/SoftwareCoders/showBioInfo!asp/x!Austin/y!Texas/lngAuthorId!131806/warick.htm not game related but demo never saw the dungeon demo moving but heres a quicktime of it http://www.leemarrs.com/animation/anima_index.html so it was prerendered without a doubt =)
on the konami games no one can say as they where made at the end or better after the life cycle of the consumer m2 console i for myself would count them in
Okay, I did boff the UMK3 one. I finally found the cover that I was referring to and it seems I forgot one little important piece of text on it (it was for the original 3do). Here it is for reference: http://3dotoday.classicgaming.gamespy.com/page7/3dom9f.jpg I know you want confirmed games, but looking through the newsgroups provides some interesting insight into some possibilities. Obviously I wouldn't consider anybody posting on them to be credible sources though, with the exception of maybe the 3do guys. Just a few (i haven't altered or added anything to the below): VV Newsgroup cut 'n paste VV --------------------------------- >*RETURN FIRE 2 (SILENT SOFTWARE) This is indeed true, Silent Software has said that they are making RF2 for M2. The question is, will it be ready for launch? >*ROCK 'N' ROLL RACING 2 (INTERPLAY) >*DESCENT ENHANCED (INTERPLAY) >*STAR TREK (INTERPLAY) I saw the Rock 'N' Roll Racing2 demo at E3 and it looked pretty good, although it was totally different from the first one, this one being a first person race game a la Crash N' Burn. The only problem being is that it was a playstation game. However I do remember Interplay saying in one of their AOL 3DO chats that they intended to port it, along with Descent, to the M2. I would not expect R'n'R Racing until at least 1st quarter of 96'. >SPECTRUM HOLOBYTE >*Top Gun- RUMOR has it that Spectrum is considering releasing the new > steroid version of TG for the M2. It will be available for > U64 at its launch. This is more than rumor, its fact. SH announced at E3 that M2 would be one of the many platforms that would receive Top Gun, but then again this is the same company who promised us Star Trek:TNG. > Well, Descent is definitely coming out, but I don't know if it's >on the M2 or the current 3do. I've seen 2 mags show screen shots for it >so far. Those screen shots were straight from the PC version. >Road Rash 2 (this is more than just rumor...also in mags too) This rumor does seem to be firming up a BIT. At E3, a 3DO employee whose name I can't remember (honest) told me that Trip made a trip (small 't') to LucasArts about 2 weeks prior to E3 and more or less begged them to do an M2 version of Dark Forces. Supposedly, the meeting went well but there's nothing set in stone at this point. Alien Seed by Art Data Interactive --------------------------------- ^^ End cut 'n paste ^^ Theres many a post about stuff like this. Maybe something to check into after you gather info about the games that were confirmed (i.e. the ones on your list).
I'm 99.999% certain that 7th Cross Evolution was in development for the M2 but then ported to the Dreamcast. I had an old magazine with screenshots in it, it was actually one of the games I was looking forward to the most (what a shame it sucked!)
Please take those with a grain of salt. It seems that even some of the 3do employees at the time couldn't quite agree on what was planned and what was speculation. I just copied the ones that either made sense or came from people who seemed sensible. If all the games that were actually posted on the newsgroup were true, the m2 would have probably had a larger library than the PSX A few of the titles that I saw more than once (and seem sensible, but no credible evidence) Madden Football '9X, Need for Speed 2, and Quake.

You’d be surprised at how good that site is. Miles better than crappy bablefish or whatever it's called. The problem with writing a letter to a company in Japanese is that you have to write it in polite Japanese which is a pain in the arse so I doubt many people will jump at the chance of writing it for you. I know I'd rather watch paint dry that translate an English letter in to business Japanese. Yakumo
Same thing in Japanese. We aren't his friend so therefore we have to address him like a company. Believe me, Japanese etiquette goes miles beyond that of English and I'm sure German as well. It really is annoying. Even writing to sellers from Yahoo auctions is more polite than writing to a seller on EBay. Then again may EBay users are arrogant shits. Stuff like "Tell me how much postage is" (THAT'S IT !!) is what your typical EBay user would write. Yakumo
well write your letter and I'll translate it when I get time. It will probably be better if I send it from my address in Japan as well since he may respond quicker if he thinks it's a Japanese asking. I doubt it though but you never know,. Yakumo
was just out of curiosity asking and not try to offend you but thats one of the things i hate with this community holding back information so just nobody other can get it sorry for beeing so blunt but it just gets me angry
those graphics look pretty good, is that the console version of the M2 or the arcade one? (is there any real difference between the 2 hardware spec-wise?)
Food for thought: I found an old post today over at freedo from one of the mods: So I checked the photo of the disc (which, if this was true, was probably from the ebay auction) and compared it with the M2 logo that was used on production disc packaging. Jpeg compression aside, they look just about identical.
dont know where the 2nd logo comes from but i believe the dev stuff uses a normal font not such a bended one where did you find the right logo ?
