So for thoes who have the game already, what's your take on it? So far I'm loving the game. It's physics kind of anoy me sometimes but over all the game is much better then the beta was and it's a lot of fun to play through. Personaly later I hope Mm releases a mini game pack. I quite like the little challange stages a bit more then the main maps. So i'm down with paying a little $$ for a collection of new mini challange games.
I just rented the game and spent about 4 hours playing it at a buddy's house. I hate to admit, because I was really looking forward to this game, but I really don't like how the game played. I enjoyed the game quite a bit at first. The different expressions, swinging around in levels, and doing the hokey-pokey with your sackman are very entertaining. However, the more levels I played, the more I began to dislike the game. A couple complaints I have: 1. The game switches plains automatically which most of the time is EXTREMELY frustrating. Especially when you're trying to grab an item on the furthest plain and every time you jump, you jump to the closest plain. 2. The controls are way too loose. Jumping feels delayed, you can't stop or switch directions very quickly. I guess I'm just used to quality Nintendo platformers. 3. The tutorials. The voice over guy got pretty annoying pretty quick. I can only take so many lame jokes/bad puns. What's worse is that when you unlock the level creator (you have to play through some of the game before you get it) for every single tool/object, you are forced to complete the tutorial. You can't just skip it and figure stuff out on your own. The level creator had some cool stuff. I didn't have a lot of items to work with. It's definitely going to take some time to master. It'll be cool to see what people come up with that have more time on their hands. Overall, the controls just felt sort of awkward. The game does look great though and the sackmen are incredibly cute. Especially when you decorate them and pretty them up. I was just disappointed that the best part of the game was dancing around with the sackman and rolling stuff down a big hill in the level creator.
haven't played the game yet, but the jumping seems a bit off-nintendo- and we all know that tight nintendo platformer controls are a must for a platformer because they work well in a GAME (in contrast to a rag doll physics engine)
graciano1337, How many levels did you play in? The game gets amazing way later on (the first 3 stages are cool but extreamly basic compaired to the later stuff). The plane swaping sucks but the thing to learn is to press grab much sooner before you touch an object. In the beta you had to be really really close but in the final build you don't have to be so close to grab. The jumping is based on momentum/physics (if you've played N+ you would understand). The tutorials I agree with you on it but sadly I have to admit the stuff can get rediciously complicated later on with out them (there's been a bit of complaining on neogaf that the tutorials don't do enough to explain some more advance features).
I played a couple levels past where you unlock the tutorial. So like 7 or 8, somewhere around there. I was fine with the grabbing things. It was just the plains and jumping, which, you know, are a HUGE part of the game. I wanted a PS3 for this game but...
QFT. Only played it for about 15 minutes or so but it was just....... awkward. The graphics are nice though:thumbsup:.
Gears 2 will be the biggest 360 game this year. http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/gearsofwar2 (95 on metacritic) But LBP to be forgotten because of Resistance 2? Wtf have you even checked any of the reviews? LBP http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/littlebigplanet (95 on metacritic) VS. Resistance 2 http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/resistance2 (89 on metacritic) I'm sorry but you're way off on this one.
Do you remember what theme though? Seriously the later levels are great and the plane swaping is not a problem (since some of the more complicated levels keep you in 1 plane only untill there is a big reason why you're supost to swap, the levels are nothing like the first few levels which make plane swaping tedious). Jumping only bothers me in maps when doing things like teatertoter (sp?) because it was more ment for who players to be going through thoes parts. To me the jumping is fine because really if it were old 2d/mario like, the rest of the physics would just not work (since they heavily play on momentum). I think that poster is going overboard. I would not say LBP is the most important game in the last 5 years but it does show where games might be heading in the future. It's level editor (while daunting at first) is very flexable. It's probably one of the first console games to offer such a robust editor in the actual game (and not in some offline PC tools). The game is really trying to push the idea of the comunity shaping up the future of the game insted of gamers being forced to take only what the publisher is given them. Thats just my two cents.
Did you ever see the user's score? 3.3 right now. That kind of crap is so damn childish. Fucking fanboys
Sorry but who fucking cares about reviews. You can't compare Gears, Resistance or LBP. I do think more people are going to go for Resistance vs. LBP though. Do any stores or anything have LBP on demo? I can't play it otherwise.
Many people do and it will be heavily avertised if it reviews well. So yes the word will get out to thoes who don't go read the net. As for playing LBP. Um... Can you for Resistance 2? :noooo: The only way is via Resistance 2 Online beta but LBP already had it's online Beta where you could have had a chance to get in. On the flip side, the developers have mention that they will be getting some form of a demo for LBP. Also it won't be uncommon for sony to load up PS3 units in retail stores with either LBP or Resistance 2. If R2 out performs LBP anywhere it will probably be in North America only. Most likely UK LBP numbers will be enough to offset that (plus the potential 50k-100k japan will bring in for LBP). Yeah, I think the worse was probably the amazon.com spores writen review section that was spammed to hell over secure rom & also by software pirates.
Er, I actually meant, is there any demo up for LBP. I can't play it or Resistance. I don't have a PS3 and probably won't for a long time and don't know a single person near me with one. I was wondering if anyone had seen one in a store or anything lol. I know! It's for almost every PC game there is lately. 1/5 stars on good games, stupid.
Oh sorry. I did not realise you were asking. =( I think it would be by random chance. Could always try a major outlet like bestbuy or walmart/kmart. Walmart/kmart tend to show off more kid friendly stuff so they would be a better bet for LBP.
At my Blockbuster we only got two copies of LBP. And we only have 4 copies on order for Resistance 2. I don't know why we have so few copies considering Blockbuster is all about Blu-Ray and we sell Sony hardware and such. I mean, we got 28 copies of Frontlines: Fuels of War for the 360 for crying out loud! xD I almost got a PS3 a couple weeks ago but I got some headphones instead. Then I thought about it again, but then I played LBP. The community stuff, in LBP, is REALLY cool. But what community is there? The few friends I know that have a PS3 use it for Blu-Ray almost exclusively. Valkeryia Chronicles does look awesome though. I'm not gonna lie.
I don't know a single person with a PS3. I'm serious. I want one but stupid as it sounds, it's because I think it would be cool to play PS1/PS2 with HDMI and wireless controllers. I also absolutly love Uncharted. What I hate more is all the asshole kids who break the PS3 demo units so I can't play them!
To be honest I hated this game from the second I saw it. I played it, and I still hated it. I just think it looks too childish, and it bores me really fast. Though it is an interesting concept, I think it could've been executed much better.
