I dunno, it's an interesting game, but modding has been around on the PC for years. I don't see it as all the revolutionary really.

    OMG, That was amazing.

The low LBP numbers could be because of the reprint that had to be issued. I would not be suprised if they send you more with in a month.

I say wait till next year as sony will have no choice but to drop the price of the Ps3 again in the next 6 months. I think VC will be a game worth getting (if you like SRPGs there is disgaea 3 also).

That is the thing. I think it is the first console game to sucessfully bring what the PC market has had to the console market with a good server side system to distribute it to the masses. If you had to hit up a website on your PC to download maps then copy them over to your ps3 then LBP would not be anywhere as big of a deal as it is.

This kind of attitude always confuses me. If it's a game aimed squarely at kids, that's one thing, I'm not saying you need to pay attention to every Nickelodeon licensed game that comes along, but for something as different and unique-looking as LBP surely you can stop being a grown-up for long enough to take a look at the game underneath?

A friend in real life said he thought it looked childish as well. I pointed out he had a reasonable number of Disney titles on DVD. He thought that was different in some way, but it's really exactly the same thing.

Exactly. It's the whole "Web 2.0" thing (sorry for the obnoxiously trendy buzzword) applied to games. Halo 3 did similar but I think LBP's on a different scale in terms of flexibility.

Lemmie write a little love letter to LBP then I'll put a sock in it.

I love 2D Platformers. Some guys dig 2D Fighters, some guys side scrolling beat em ups. Not me. I like Mario, Sonic and Donkey Kong Country and all that. The last 2D Platformer I had that was any good was New Super Mario Bros on DS. So I get at most one a year. Next one will probably be the new Klonoa on Wii. 2D Platforming as a genre is pretty dead, everything has been done.

So here's LBP. I like it a lot. The included levels are awesome, if this game just came with the levels included I'd give it 9/10. The physics, the cars, all that. Really does a lot new with the 2D Platformer genre. The physics thing is good and fresh, sure it plays a little differently to what you're used to, but change is good.

If you add to that the character customization, the co op play, the leaderboards and the rest I'd bump it up to 9.5/10. How awesome would be be to be able to play Super Mario Bros or whatever co-op online? If that was up on Wii VC I'd be all over that, but Nintendo aren't into online, they're into Miis and Motion Control. Boo.

Now add to it an infinite supply of new levels.... Forever. OH MY GOD THIS GAME IS F***ING INSANE! So instead of getting one game a year, I get new levels.... Every day?

Can't tell you how happy this game makes me. I go down the games shop, all the new games are shooters, racers and casual games, nobody does 3D Platformers anymore, let alone 2D ones. Nintendo are too busy to make lots of Mario games, Naughty Dog have dumped Jak'n'Daxter.

It's a joygasm of a game. If it's childish then so is Mario.

Good point. I love 2D platformers too. Can't argue that.

I would also like to play a real good 3D platformer...like Crash Bandicoot Warped was but now. It'd be nice.

Hmmm, I dunno...I think I'd say Braid is more of a puzzler....but yeah, it would probably appeal to someone who likes platformers.

    Yah, got that.

Nearest to a Crash Bandicoot Warped with graphics is Crash Bandicoot - Wrath of Cortex which you can get off XBLA XBox originals. It's the first non Naughty Dog Crash and doesn't stray very far off the formula. The rollerball sections are quite fun. Finished the first four Crashes quite recently.

How long until they smack down all content that has copyrights?
It's gonna be bland as fuck once they start killing off anything that
    might infringe.

Plus according to the sony TOS they own anything you do....

I hope it does well, I really do, but I couldn't be bothered with the controls.
After about an hour it makes me want to stop using it..

Yeah, I have that. It's alright, feels sort of sluggish to me but it's alright. I love Crash 2 and 3 though.

It works on the youtube "If someone complains we remove it" principle. So no Little Big Sex Games either.

Just like youtube you can go play the recent additions and play em before they get nuked though I imagine.

The reason why we dont get more 3D platformers is that it doesnt seem easier for devs to get it right.

And LBP, while a great game, its still 2.5D.

If they dont go after fan-made games, while fan-made levels?

Now if the LBP devs make a Mario clone, well there could be a problem with that...

As we all see, I was right.

Little Big Failure is more like it.

The 'Voice Over guy' that someone was complaining about earlier is actually a British comedian / actor & writer by the name of Stephen Fry. Although he does sound very much like himself (as he is famous for his use of language), I got the impression that the 'quirky / zany ' (sic) script has a lot more to do with the writing of Douglas Adams (Hitch hikers guide to the Universe) than any thing else.

Stephen Fry's body of work is huge and he is a very well respected comedian in the UK. Incidentally, he also did the voice overs for the 'Harry Potter' books... all of them! No mean feat! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Fry

I bought LBP for my daughter's 16th birthday as she'd been going on about it for some time. She seems to enjoy it, but I really wanted GoW2...

What a stunning critique. Your talents are wasted on engineering.

I think it's logical for Media Molecule/Sony to forbid LBP levels with copyrighted content on their online servers, as they could be sued for getting profit from them.

I mean, I love Green Hill Zone as much as anyone, but if I want to play Sonic I just plug my MD, I don't need some rip-off level.

The real challenge for LBP is building and maintaining an online community creative enough to create new and imaginative levels, not housing 300 clones of Metal Gear, Sonic or Mario levels.

i guess it hasn't been selling as well as i thought it would. i thought this would be the game to push PS3s of the shelves. same with Resistance 2. but according to vgchartz.com:

LBP: about 760,000 in 3 weeks
Resistance2: just over 300,000 copies sold in one week.

those don't even compare to 2.1 million copies of Gears 2 sold on day one.
