Hey guys, I found this Logitech Wireless Precision XBOX 863241-0000 controller today. But what I noticed was the color of this. It is transparent red/orange. I looked online and I cannot find this color anywhere. I know they made a standard black, blue for the Playstation 2 and green for the XBOX. They also had EA Sports ones but this one must be unique. This is genuine and not a third party case because Logitech's stamp and ID# is on the back. If anyone knows the story about it please let me know
Makes me wonder if this was a color sample Logitech thought would fit XBOX Live. Instead they decided to stay with the clear green one instead to match the Microsoft S controllers. Just a guess..... Borman, does this color match your XBOX Live S controller?
Borman's Xbox Live controller is now my Xbox Live controller. It's hard to tell from these photos, but it looks a bit darker to me. But then again all of the lights here are the old style and non-fluorescent, so they cast an orange glow on everything. Everything but the close-up photo of the back looks more red than orange on your controller. EDIT: As a side note, does this Logitech controller feel similar to using an Xbox 360 controller? I remember seeing an auction for what was basically an Xbox 360 controller but for the original Xbox a while ago, and since I've played a lot more Halo 2 on my 360 I find it hard to use the original controller these days.
Hey DeChief. That explains a lot about that picture you sent with your orange memory card. It was inside Borman's orange XBOX Live controller You know what I looked at this controller and it is more on the red side. Kind of a dark orange/red. Do you happen to know anything about this controller in question?
Yep! Unfortunately I don't know anything about yours, and I can't see why Logitech would've wanted to make something to match up with the Xbox Live orange colour...
I believe I've seen black, green, silver and white. This looks more red than orange, but also remember back then everything from iMacs to game cubes came in the color of the month. Offtopic: I have a red mouse by Logitech, before it was named such.
Through all my research on these controllers the white and silver were EA editions. And black and green were the only other colors for the original XBOX. That was it for the ones that were sold publicly. As a side note, I looked everywhere for the matching receiver and could not find it
Let's be clear here - this controller, by Logi, or whoever, is completely a 3rd party (non MS) design. I don't need to go into the details here to point out the differences in design, shape, button placement etc... MS did make some orange controllers which were given out in the Xbox Live beta kits, which were a carry case with a controller, memory stick, head set, and possibly some other swag (possibly also sold at retail or in other channels). I couldn't tell you exact numbers, but very likely less than 20,000, if that, maybe more like 5,000. Borman, or someone else might have better recollection than me. To be precise, the controller orange was in PC/ABS. The Consoles (even the elusive orange consoles) were in straight PC. The controller PC/ABS material was matched and compounded by a supplier of Mitsumi, who I can't recall (possibly Chi Mei) while ALL of the console PC (clear/smoke/crystal colors - clear, smoke, green, blue) were all made from GE poly carbonate PC - my point here is that because of the source and material differences, the colors ultimately did not match, and it would not have tried to make them match, because we never officially made an orange console (except for the 2 that I made and gave away - which are now infamous).
