My Nexus 5 recently started to die. The power button stopped working and screen's brightness can't be changed. I have had this phone for 21 months, so I still have to wait 3 months for a new phone.
As a backup, I'm using an old LG chocolate from 2008 and it works without any problems.

So what phone have you used the longest without any problems ?
For me, it was a Samsung touch phone from 2009, it lasted a bit more than 2.5 years.

My Iphone 5 lasted a long time for me, 2.5+ years. I ended up selling it for a decent amount, it was still in great shape. But I also don't drop phones unlike my wife who drops her's daily.

I've had the worst luck with HTC phones. Honestly the longest lasting phones I had where before the touch screen area for obvious reason. This thing wouldn't die (got it back in 01/02)

Nokia 3330: 2001-2004. Only reason it stopped working is because it got wet.

At the time, the Nokia 5510 wasn't even available in my country.
I can safely say that 97% of people in my country had a Nokia 3310 at the time.

Old Nokias. Still got two different models that work fine. One of them is the E91i, which is still a useful bit of tech.

I have a Siemens C35i that still works, although the battery will only run the phone for 5-6 hours now. When it was new, it worked for 4-5 days standby...

I have my iPhone 4 for almost exactly 4 years now and the home button only works around 10-20% of the time. I have the assist function enabled all the time, but sometime the button would still react. It's also gotten way too slow for most apps. I cannot play most games properly anymore.

Disney Tsumtsum: works at around 50% speed (I was shocked how much smoother it is on an iPhone 6)
HayDay" plays like Halo on a Windows 98 PC
Instagram: It updated recently and now crashes on startup everytime - unusable.
Facebook: often crashes and sometimes wouldn't react for very long (1 minute+, I timed it once).
Google Maps: Sometimes works very slow, sometimes doesn't react for 1 minute+... again, I timed it because it started to piss me off

With an iPhone 4 (even 4S), I'm also officially written off by Apple as a user, as I cannot update my operating system anymore to make things more compatible. I have iOS 7.1, and everything got worse performance-wise since I upgraded from iOS 5. Yet, I had no choice, as a lot of apps suddenly stopped working unless I update them, and the update required iOS 7.0.

I guess I will get an iPhone 5 or 5S in the near future. I don't see myself paying upward of $500 for a new phone, and the contracts that include one are all a lot worse than my current plan (roughly $200-300 more per year!!), so what's the point of changing?

Sigh, I kind of really wish back the times when I had a normal cell phone that cost me $200 and a prepaid card where I'd pay my $50 every couple of months instead of $65 each month + $900 phone.

I generally activate and use Samsung Convoy U640 phones. I get them pre-owned. They usually last me 2-3 years before they start malfunctioning (power cutting off when phone is flipped shut, buttons not working, etc.) When fully charged, they last a week and 1/2 before needing to be charged again.

I honestly believe that any old Nokia will hold through a nuclear war.

My old Sony Ericsson w810i lasted about 6 years. Still worked fine but I gave it away. Wish I hadn't!

How much do you want for your broken one? I smashed the screen on mine (first time ever on a phone), then I replaced it with a new one but it smashed in a few days just in my pocket (I suspect replacement is chinese crap and not gorilla glass).

I've got a drawer full of old phones. Pretty much anything made by Nokia, Motorola and Palm holds up well over time.

I would say 70Eur, because it's still semi functional. And that's about the price these phones go with a broken screen in my country.
PM me if you are interested.
