    Hi

I'm wondering if anyone has stumbled upon an app/file/code known as GSTOOL 3.1?

...It's for the Sony Playstation TOOL.

P.M me if you can help.

    TIA

    OE

It's already installed if the Tool network info screen is displayed.
In linux, type "rpm -qa" and look at the list of installed software.

Ah, so it wasn't a developer choice, but a corruption then OE?

OE I had completely forgotten about this, did you get it fixed (have visions of you sifting through an entire HDD) or is this still required?

...Well....I copied, good copies, of the 'suspected corrupt' files over to the TOOL manually, this made no difference....On Friday I reflashed the TOOL, this also made no difference.

...So....I'm still looking for the app 'GSTOOL 3.1'. The pdf on the subject makes it quite clear that the app fixes the minor issue, just a shame it's not in the SDK.

...I'm just thankful that the 'minor issue' makes absolutely no difference to the TOOL, it works perfect 'as-is'!!!

Have you managed to get it running any retail material btw?

I am currently waiting on a new laser to be delivered as it looks like the version of Tool that I have cannot be flashed to accept anything else. If that is the case, then I'll possibly have a replacement by the weekend or failing that in roughly a fortnight. Once that has been resolved I shall attempt to read a title via target manager.

Yeh, it's strange that no-ones stumbled upon summat that must of been quite a popular application in its time.

I just did a search on the Tool networking manuals and GSTOOLS, GS TOOL and other variants makes no appearance? Definately not in the PS files I have on the PC. Must be stuck on one of those 2 HDD images. God, having to decant all that info and pick it out...

back MUCH later when I can try and do this

Is there a way I can get the version off my TOOL, and get it to my PC? It's on the network but don't know how to get into the hard drive of it from a Windows PC?

On Windows you'd just do \\192.xx.xx.xx\c$ but not sure for Linux. Do you know OE, then I can email it or post it to you?

My PS2 Tool is sitting in a workshop in town and I don't have access until next weekend. However, I do have the 2 HDD images on DVDr in the attic. If you can't sort something out then I will just expand them onto a large HDD and trawl through the files.

There is some references to gstool in the forums archive from the techref disc, I don't know where I put my disc, but Parris might have a copy of it...

I gave oe the files from my hdd, but the problem seems to be something else.
The easiest way for him would be to use my hdd dump on another hdd, or to dump his hdd so I can have a look at it.

dickibow, if samba is not running on the Tool to allow sharing drives to a microsoft network, you can always send the files via ftp.

FTP - yes, good idea. Where on the TOOL are the files though. What's the path?
