Would you want PS3 horror games or older PS1 & PS2 horror games that will run on your PS3?

Dead Space 1 and 2, I've not played Dead Space 3 so don't no if it's any good.

Oh, Sorry. You posted this in rare and obscure gaming your looking for unreleased stuff and beta's?

If that's the case forget what I just said, I thought you wanted released games to play.

Downpour is pretty good too, a bit different but still good and gave me enough scary moments.

Also Dark Souls feels very much like a horror game to me. I highly recommend it.

Homecoming was IMO the best recent Silent Hill. More gore & human death than the early SH games, but still a decent amount of fun. Downpour wasn't bad, just a bit slow at times. Honestly I would recommend going more towards PS1 & PS2 if you want great survival horror. Fatal Frame series, Silent Hill series, Resident Evil series, Siren, Obscure, etc.

^^ good point. :wink-new: (although i gotta say, the fatal frame series was a bit too fuckin rough on the heart, the way it messes with you. reminds me a lot of the ring for the slight of eye shit that gets close and my very essence left the body in fear, freaky, really freaky japanese nasty psychology, headfuck etc... don't think i'll be playing it too soon, it's too horrific, i'm a mechanic, i mostly hurt people...not!)
there's some psn pkg archives at BCG, complete game rebuilds in some cases, not talking about a mere ps2-to-ps3 conversion, but a recoded game like the ico HD double package game.
    ...
rule of rose is another great title, i haven't seen a HD version, just a ps2-to-ps3 convert, psn though.
the michigan report on ps2 got a bad rap, and in fairness, it's a bit of a crap game to play, but it's worth progressing just for the story.
(similar gameplay to fatal frame/project zero)

    soon..

OK, not really fit for what you're asking. The Evil Within is out in october for the PS3, and while not straight horror, it obviously have it. while i don't agree, some would say it's a mix between RE4 & Silent Hill (the art director behind evil within is naoki katakai who is responsible for the absolutuly gorgeous REmake art for the gamecube).

alien isolation looks pretty cool too. says alot for someone who rarely have any interest in non-japanese games.

At least the (original) Nintendo Wii had a bunch of Survival Horror games for the system. though most of them are Japan Only like Project Zero 4 & Holy Mountain (I think) and maybe a couple i'd haven't heard of yet.

Depending on what you're looking for that's playable on the PlayStation 3, some are more action-y than others and others may not be scary to you but these are generally all listed as horror games.

Yakuza Dead Souls / Ryū ga Gotoku: Of The End
    Silent Hill: Downpour
    Silent Hill: Homecoming
Deadly Premonition / Red Seeds Profile
Siren Blood Curse / Siren: New Translation (the US PSN version is slightly censored, the physical disc versions also include a behind the scenes piece under the "Videos" section when inserted into the console)
Resident Evil 4 HD / Biohazard 4 HD
Resident Evil - CODE: Veronica HD / Biohazard 4 HD (this and RE4 can be gotten on a physical disc as "Biohazard HD Revival Selection")
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles / Biohazard: Umbrella Chronicles
Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles / Biohazard: Darkside Chronicles
    Resident Evil 5 / Biohazard 5
    Resident Evil 6 / Biohazard 6
Resident Evil: Revelations / Biohazard: Revelations
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City / Biohazard: Operation Raccoon City
    Dead Space: Extraction
    Dead Space
    Dead Space: Ignition
    Dead Space 2
    Dead Space 3
    Singularity
    Metro: Last Light
    Dead Island
    Dead Island: Riptide
    Dead Rising 2
Dead Rising 2: Off The Record
    F.E.A.R.
    F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin
Silent Hill HD Collection (infamous for being buggy, you would do better to simply play the original PS2 or PC versions of the games).
    The Walking Dead game
    The Last of Us
    Alice: Madness Returns
    Amy
    Bioshock
    Bioshock 2
    Catherine
    Condemned 2: Bloodshot
Dante's Inferno (I've yet to play this one, was told it was awful - up to you to decide).
    I Am Alive
Imabikisō (horror visual novel that you could import, not region locked on the PS3).
Saw (kinda awful movie adaptation, that said the second game is worse).
Saw II: Flesh & Blood (unless you like to riff crappy games, I'd probably avoid this one).
Splatterhouse (this is the 2010 version).
    The Darkness
    The Darkness II
    Alone In The Dark
    Shadows of the Damned
    Lollipop Chainsaw
    Devil May Cry HD Collection

And if you wanted any "Classics" games to play then there's also these:

Clock Tower ~ The First Fear ~
    Clock Tower 2
    Clock Tower GHOST HEAD
Resident Evil: Director's Cut / Biohazard: Director's Cut
    Resident Evil 2 / Biohazard 2
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis / Biohazard 3: Nemesis
    Parasite Eve
    Parasite Eve 2
    Zero/Project Zero/Fatal Frame 1 through to 3
    Silent Hill
    Silent Hill 2
    Silent Hill 3
    Silent Hill: Origins
    Silent Hill 4: The Room
    Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
    Kuon
    Rule of Rose
Glass Rose / Garasu no Bara
    Fear Effect
    Fear Effect 2
    Cold Fear
    Obscure
    Obscure 2

    ... I do actually have a horror game list floating around but these are all I can think of off the top of my head at the moment. >_<;

another as a ps2-to-ps3 convert, not seeing any pkg archives though, just ps2 and ngc dumps...:concern: could do a home convert?
    (preferred the ngc version tbh)
    Killer 7 Part 1 - Target 0: Angel

this is a creepy game, a well done rail-shooter, with puzzles. :smile-new:

Love Killer7. I own the PS2 version and its one of the most distinctive games I've ever played. Just, everything. The dialogue, controls, storyline, etc. So off-the-wall.

Not to mention the psychedelic music. Killer7 it's one of those games wich you "read" it in different way every time you play it (like Rule of Rose, also mentioned here). Simply art in motion. BTW, there some beta pics from it over the net... will it see the light of sun one day?

Back to the thread subject, Condemned 2 its actuall a very scary game. Yes, it is another FPS but has nice atmosphere and the Abandoned Doll's Factory or Black Lake stage are quite disturbing.
And go for SH:Homecoming, of course. Good mention with those two games people, very underrated gems IMO.
