Unless a recovery partitions it, I know for a fact the 40gb works fine. And that is in a proper, bonafied alpha.
Yep, not/rarely an issue if you use a HDD larger than 20GB............My point being was that 8GB won't work.
what is the benefit to having one of these rigs? is there any tangible difference between this and a debug/128mb box? i am newish to assembler, and this hasn't been discussed at any of my other "usual places. " leaving me to wonder why not?
It's pretty useless other than being able to play games that will only run on the Alpha kits, so that makes it worth it. But there's not much out there to play, I wish there was more It's still nice to have a reference in case hardware needs to be replaced in the future.
I know of another game or two in private hands for alpha kits, in addition to AI and different Simpsons and Dark Summit that I own
It would be more that logical there would be more builds for the alpha's. but if you know they also are in private hands, thats awesome, and a small hope to see them released or able to buy some sharing rights. (or just some video/pictures to feel happy for the owner) Other than "can I build one?" it was "can it help me understand xbox?" and well, litle bits at a time it helps me personally see how they designed and constructed the xbox to what it became. Windows 2000 ( windows 5.131.2134.1 was used later) anyway, no real benefit besides alpha games, xbox development research or just for funs. (it should not cost too much to make one, an Alpha Xbox one or 360 alpha is atm another story, but also posible (we all know what happend to the last guys, smart asses))
