http://1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3152635 Better yet, Xbox Live Arcade. Good news, since it allows people who never got the chance to play it (Or not pay 20-30 for a copy) to finally play it. Too bad there is no extra content from the Saturn version, but that is a small price to pay. Could this also mean we could finally get other Playstation and Saturn games?
I was actually considering picking up a copy. I guess I can wait for the disk prices to come down when this hits XBLA.
As much as I'd hate to see the value of my copy plummet, this is great news as this is easily the best CV ever. Everyone should have a chance to play this one.
WEll of course it will never replace the original copy, however, putting it on XLA will allow the young gamers who don't own a PSX the chance to experience quality 2D gaming and how much fun it can be. I hope they release Suikoden 2 on XLA ;-), another overly expensive RPG I want to legitimately own without spending $150 for a copy. The same goes for Panzer Dragoon Saga and Radian Silvergun... Hope these come out on XLA .
I'm with madhatter, it'll bring the game to a bunch of people who'd otherwise not be able to play it. I think that's more important. Same goes for Panzer Dragoon Saga and Radiant Silvergun, it'd be good to see them released on Live and Wii 24 (or whatever it is they're calling the Wii's online thing).
Can't believe I forgot that game. Hope that game goes too! I don't want to play it on a CRT anymore...
I'm sure I'm not the only one who can't wait to see Symphony running in full HD resolutions. If properly ported this could easily be the superior version considering the hardware potential.
Judging by Street Fighter II, "HD" means the original picture scaled to 1280x720. Most likely Konami will go the lazy route and the game will simply be emulated and use all the original assets.
How exactly are Xbox Live Arcade games made? Do the arcade ports use a Emulator of sorts that ties in with the 360 Dashboard, or is it built from the ground up?
After hearing this anouncement I hope others like killer instienct and pc engine dracula x make it to live. I doubt it be emulated, all stuff on live has been ported. Plus for quality reasons each game goes througha rigorous screening process.
Actually, some are emulation. SmashTV and Galaga i'm positive are, and i'm pretty sure Street Fighter II is, just that they are pausing emulation and overlaying new menu's where appropriate....
Ummm.... why? Guess I'll be the purist dickhead (something I'm getting good at). Any 2D PS game which runs in native low-res will not be displayed properly on the Xbox360. THe system does not support the resolution (at all). The output will be interlaced, and as such, will look like a turd. Now, running it in "full HD" means the pixels will be stretched to all kinds of shittiness, making it even worse than the already interlaced image. The only way that these games will look close to their original is if they're running in progressive mode, with some type of fake scanlines filter (which comes in most PC emulators). I don't see this happening though. As for whether it's worth it on XBLA or not... I'm with Yakumo. This game is easily worth $20-$30, and the $10 a Playstation costs. If people don't realize that, well, their tough shit. To each their own, I suppose. You mean ported, and not emulated? I'll be my left nut that 90% of them, if not all, are emulated.
