This is just something I can't understand. It's also good to hear Rudy Giuliani quoting NHS health statistics in the US as regards to surviving prostate cancer in the UK. According to him 82% of those diagnosed with prostrate cancer in the US made a full recovery with treatment, but the big, bad social health care system in the United Kingdom (NHS) could only manage a pathetic 44%. It's actually 95% v 74%. Still a long way to go, but Rudy forgot to mention he was comparing the US with the UK back in 2000. Stats for 2007 are obviously not available. So it could be argued that a greater improvement has taken place in the NHS than in the US. I'm sure it's tit for tat, this is one statistic, but it's not as bad as the picture he painted. In the UK if I have a health issue, I can have it dealt with for free!
Seriously. I don't gow how someone could hate the west coast. First chance I get I'm moving back there.
Just FYI, I imagine that in most cases where guns kill somebody in a violent crime, its illegal for the person using the gun to have a gun anyways. Like, 15 year olds, felons, etc.
In any case as long as the SCOTUS doesn't duck and cover again the 2nd Amendment issue should finally be resolved once and for all during this session of the court.
I just hope the judge sends this fucker to the chair. I dont give I damn if its a kid, that assclown deserves to be fried. On the healthcare topic, I think thats even more serious than weapons since theres more deaths due to bad/lack of treatment than due to firearms. Sadly healthcare is a big business, the biggest one right after food production (which makes sense since those are the two essential things for living) and none of those idiots at washington has the guts to deal with the moguls in that industry.
Somewhat true. In the UK the issue is with the age-old issue of classes. The lower and upper classes and all that crap. Some of it is due to the UK's inability to change and adapt to new ideas, new people. Even now immigration is one of the biggest complaints among British people, as due to the EU, it's happening a lot. In Canada, where I am now, immigrants are part of society and there's less class segregation, but the drug underworld still causes some pretty bad shootings and murders (read up on the Downtown Eastside). A shooting is a major thing, not just petty crime.
@PhreQuencYViii I know I'm really late to this. I didn't necessarily say that gun control was the answer. Just that it's clear that as with humans (or at the very least Americans), the average Joe is far too dumb to be fucking with a gun. The VP of the USA shot his friend in the face, for the love of God. I grew up in Texas with guns all around me. And yes, some people DID wave them in other people's faces to show how cool they were. Again: people = idiots.
Big ups to Brooklyn. Biggie Smalls RIP FUCk 2pac That said I'll avoid a huge arguement and just say it's a political issue I have and a moral one as well but it's not because SF is rampent with Gays. Gay people can do what they want just leave my ass alone......it's exit only. I'm not too fond of texas either. I hate The West coast for being too liberal I hate Texas for beint TOO conservitive. Gun Crime where I live isn't too common......lot of stabbings though mostly in Providence.
The 2nd issue with Americans and guns is it definately seems that they view owning a weapon with it's only purpose being to kill is their God given right (and according to the constitution, it is). While I don't think people should be denied guns, they HAVE to view them as the deadly weapons that they are. Of course I'm generalising, but I don't want to write an essay.
Do we really have to have this bi-monthly debate on guns and gun laws? Lets face it, the way the world works means that people who want to cause trouble with guns can get their hands on them. It is as simple as supply and demand. If there is no legal means to, people will find an illegal means to. As far as I am concerned, the answer is to deal with the people who use guns, not the weapons themselves. A gun is merely a tool as much as a hammer or a shovel. Both can be deadly, however it is whoever who has the intention to use it for harm that is who should be dealt with.
we need more explict sex on TV why you ask? people will be too busy jerking off at home to go out and shoot people for not moving fast enough.
Umm... as someone who's had many gay friends and even a family member, I can assure you they probably want nothing to do w/ your asshole. The ones that pretend to are usually doing it to wind you up and make you feel like a homophobe. That is a valid argument. And I'll tell you just like I tell all my right-wing, gun-toting friends. If you truly believe that, then you cannot (without being a hypocrite) say that drugs should be illegal... ANY of them. Coke, Heroin, Ice, Shrooms... The whole shebang. If people want them to do harm, they will get them (and they are exponentially harder to do unknowing harm to others with). Obviously the majority of most countries don't think this is the case, hence, there are drug laws. And in most other countries, gun laws as well.
Yeah, I know. The second part of my response was just my thoughts, not a part of your quote. The first part was me agreeing.
I've snipped some stuff, but here are my thoughts. 1. Most states do not require you to have a permit to own a handgun. 2. IMO there is no legitimate reason to concealed carry without a permit. Unless you are a crook or live in a state that doesn't allow it leagally (with a permit). If you are in a state that allows CC you should pay the fee and pass the background check and get the permit. 3. If you kill someone with anything you'll need a lawyer, justified or not. 4. What's funny about this one is my state bans concealed carry in 17 places. The truth is, most of them you can legally carry even though it states you're no supposed to. You have to follow the federal laws though. Of course, if you're a crook or intend on doing something bad why do you car about law? 5. There is not excuse for this one. If you are not legally allowed to own a gun you shouldn't have one. Of course, this is kind of like people that continue to drive with a suppended license. Breaking the law becomes second nature for some. To what Yakumo said. I hope most people understand that making things "illegal" really does nothing. The government would have to go door to door and confiscate weapons. If that does happen, there will be some serious fights between citizens and the gov. Does the US need to produce or import the ammount of weapons it does? I say no, but I still want to have the right to own guns if I choose. Gun talk "here" always turns to shit being the international site this is.
