Yes, th controls should be fine. Super Smash Bros Brawl also support GC pads and classic controller.

Of course, nothing beats a good wavebird ;)

remind me to buy a bunch.

they don't work on certain revisions of NR-Reader GameCube units.

    they DO work on:

    - NPDP-GDEV

    -Gamecube (all retail versions)

    -Wii (all retail versions)

    what's confusing you Mark?

Naturally, you ll have to plug the Wavebird dongle in the GC controller socket. Do so before booting the console.

    A. I only mentioned motion controls for the new Mario Kart. In the following paragraph I said "gimmicks".
    B. What was the last Zelda to come out?

Twilight Princess was fine, and was released on the GC as well so nothing was forced on anyone. Though I thought the motion controls in that were fine.

I just remembering someone saying that they were gutted because their wavebird wouldn't work on their new Wii. They must have been mistaking then. Now that I know that they do work I may just invest in one I think

The last decent Mario Kart was the SNES version.

I think Mario Kart DS is the best one. What's better than blowing up your own balloons in battle mode??

    N64 mariokart rules all.

Taucias, you made love to the PSX when it came out and turned your back on Nintendo - you're not the right person to judge Mariokart for nintendoness! =p

Rubbish, I'm just not a fanboy. I have owned EVERY Nintendo machine and bought many games for each until they finally pissed me off too much with their diabolical treatment of the GC. That was when I swore to not buy another Nintendo machine again (later buying a DSlite, much to my regret). I owned a Saturn, PSX and N64 in that generation.

Mario Kart 64 took away the coins, overly complicated the track design and changed the steering dynamic. The FUCKED up the weapons big time. The computer cheats even worse than the SNES version too.

It's a bastard son of the king of old skool racers. Nothing beats the original SMK.

is there a way to produce "flat" white ceramic-looking
wavebird dongles? that would sell! (one can remove the flaps completely)

Maybe its because I just woke up, but people are awfully angry in this thread. Look, the whole point of the Wii is the motion controls, and while I'm sure Nintendo has some kind of moral obligation to ask every single gamer what they want to see in a new interation, last time I checked it was their property and they can design it how they wish. Don't like, don't buy it.

I'm a little skeptical of the motorcycle stuff mostly for aesthetic reasons, but I haven't played an MK that has sucked (though Double Dash was my least favorite) so I'll wait until I get my mitts on it.

And I thought Excite Truck handled wikkid with motion controls. *Shrugs*

To me, the SNES Mario Kart is the best, followed by N64.
I own them all, except the DS version.

The Mario Kart series is one of my favorites, I hope too that
the Wii version won't force motion only control.
Twitch gameplay is what makes it great.

I could go on about why I think they need to remove
auto-catch up from the series but I'll save that for another post.

I have to say that mario kart 64 is my favorite one. Though I must admit the graphics have aged terribly compared to the snes one.

I don't know what it was about the snes version but I could never get a good grasp of the controls in regular races( though I did have blast with balloon battle).

Mario kart double dash was a HUGE dissapointment. The AI was waaaay too easy and the courses seemed to be desinged a bit small in length. It felt a bit rushed and probably explained why the game was delayed at first.

Mario kart ds on the other hand really made up for DD. It probably is the best handheld version of it.

The wii version does look interesting and I must say I am looking forward to it.
With all this talk of Mario Galaxy bitting off Ratchet and Clank, did anyone notice that pgr4 also has bikes that race alongside? Coincidence?
