Anyone have any idea why MvsC2 is so pricey? I would think that game was very common for both DC and PS2, yet on ebay you see some outragous buy it nows for used MVSC2 for PS2. Did the game actually have a limited release or did some guy once buy a copy of it for 80 bucks and now everyone thinks they can get that much for it? Seriously there's atleast one BIN for 80$ for a used copy. For that much I'd expcet it to be sealed. It's a shame Capcom doesn't have the Marvel license to release a Versus series collection on PS2.
not sure why its so much but it has been for a while. I have seen some at my local gameshop. The DC versions was either 25 or 30 and the Xbox version was 50!
well the pal releases definetly wasent limited, the ps2 and xbox versions are everywhere (altho they havent gone down much in price). and back in the days of the DC it was everywhere for that console too.. guess its just a popular game!
supply and demand. Its in demand by the general public not just die hard collectors. Remember ps1 dbz?
Amen. What's with soo many of their used games not having original cases?? I'd never buy a game without the case, I gotta have the case! Oh, MvC2 is just rare, they don't make it anymore and the only way to play it is with arcade sticks imo. DC controller for the loss. (desperate attempt to keep thread on topic)
Printed in a limited quantity. Partially based on a license Capcom no longer holds, so no chances of any reprints in the future. (get'em while they're still hot) Great game with a huge variety in characters, making it a collector's item to many fanbases. Released on CD and not DVD (on the PS2). Pretty hard to come by unless you're in the right place(s). Personally, I own two copies. Retail PAL release and a PAL promotional only copy I recieved at work.
the reason it is rapingly expensive is that the ps2 and xbox versions only got 1 pressing and there arent that many in circulation and since capcom doesnt have the marvel license they cant release another pressing unlike rez
I sold mine for 60 on ebay without a booklet. I think its cus they lost the license, the PS2 one might cost more. The DC one is way better I think.
It appears to be expensive here in Japan too with the PS2 version at around 7000 Yen costing about twice as much as the XBOX one (both used).
I'm so pissed I traded both part 1&2 back then to gamestop. I never expected it to be worth so much. I still got 3rd strike on dc, though I doubt its worth much due to the ps2 release.
Well, it's on Street Fighter Anniversary Collection which came out for PS2 and XBOX. I have the XBOX version, it's pretty good.
It was in SF Anniversary Collection. I so wish we had a Versus collection. I wish I had realized that Capcom losing the Marvel license meant this would happen. I would have made sure to buy them when they were reasonable.
the dc version of Mvc2 is like 99% arcade acurate with the ps2 and xbox versions having inaccurate sprite sizes and missing combos. the reason the ps2 and xbox version are so expensive is there was one pressing, no chance of a second pressing, and there is alot of demand for the game...with little in supply. as for the Dreamcast version, hardcore fans want this game because its almost arcade perfect. as for third strike, it came out on xbox and ps2 as part of anniversary collection and in japan hyper street figheter 2 and sf 3 third strike were released seperately. both are VERY accurate to the arcade, and you don't have input lag on the high punch and kick like on the DC version, actually making it better than the DC version which was arcade accurate with the exception of the button lag. Yeah, Marvel VS Capcom 2 I didn't mind selling, I'd say track down the DC one, its so much better and about the same price. It's wierd cus I thought the XBOX one would be better. The PS2 one is pretty bad from what I hear, I saw kids at the college playing it and asked if they had the Dreamcast one and they just looked at me wierd. I saw a big Gamestop 60$ tag on the case, go figure.
The arcade version of MVC2 was on Dreamcast based arcade hardware, so its not surprising that the Dreamcast port is the best Another thing to remember is that, unlike the first MVC gane (fully playable in MAME and several other emulators after you google for 5 minutes and download the roms), MVC2 is on hardware (NAOMI) that is unlikely to be emulated to a playable level anytime soon.
