Its also because the arcade version itself sells for over 200USD still, just for the game cart itself and without a naomi, as opposed to the 1st one, which sells for 100 or less for the complete setup for CPS2

200 bucks is considerable but not terribly expensive in terms of what is expensive arcade-wise.

the korean version on ebay - for PS2 - brand new - is around 15 dollars a pop - works on japanese systems.

This guy right here<------------Also a huge SF nut/hardcore player

I was going to post the same info, but you beat me to it.

Bottom line is, the DC version of MvC2 is almost 100% arcade perfect. For anyone that doens't already have this game, that is the version you want to invest in. For some reason, it tends to go for less than the PS2 and XB versions of the game, regardless of it being the superior version. I guess one could argue that the DC was never nearly as popular as the PS2 or even the Xb, and that the re-release of the game on the "newer" (at the time) consoles, sparked newfound interest in the game for many types of people (hardcore gamers, Marvel fans, Capcom junkies, comic types, casual gamers). My point being, the game has massive appeal, so it's no suprise it's so popular. I just wish people really knew what they were missing when picking the shitty PS2 port over the near perfect DC port.

Guess one could also argue that there are better arcade stick and controller alternatives available on the PS2 atleast.

And well, as for prices, if you sail the ocean of piracy, it is far easier to pirate the DC version, as it doesn't require you to have a modded system.
And as people already mentioned, PS2 and Xbox are more recent and more common systems than the DC, which ofcourse makes it more attractive to have the title on those for the "common man"

there are actually several very good arcade sticks for the dc and it's very easy to get a playstation to DC adaptor, which is what i use.

I was aware of all of this, I just didn't bother to mention any of it because it seemed that it would be fairy obvious to a community such as this one. Good points nonetheless.

Agreed. I have one of those too.

The Agetec stick for the DC (which came out at the U.S. launch) is one of the best arcade sticks ever made, hands down. It's more than enough to accomodate any DC fighting game nut.

MvC2 is pretty hard to find on the PS2, at least in the USA. Don't confuse it with Capcom Vs SNK 2, which is much more common a find.
