http://blogs.ign.com/Matt-IGN/2007/01/04/42284/#comments Anybody heard anything?....Other than he's certainly a fat liar?
I call BS on this: the DS lacks the proper hardware even fora lite version of a CS-like title, and since bungie's programmers arent that good I seriously doubt they had a fully running engine with no slowdowns at all. This guy is a dumb fuck, if he wanted to lie, no prob, but at least be realistic pal: there's no way the DS could do a low rez version of the beach level. He could say he played one of the maze levels since those looks alot like those in metroid, but an big open enviroment level? yeah right.... Anyway, I think Halo could make it into the PSP, but what are the odds? I mean, MS giving away his best franchise to sony? and the iranians love israel!
"looks like Halo" does not automatically mean that it looks exactly like Halo with the same level of detail and textures. It could just mean what he said about it looking like MPH, but with a Halo style. Just because the one level is an open/outdoor environment does not mean that the DS cannot handle it (it might have a lot of popping, but it could still be done).
He's just trying to create some hype in order to persuade execs to actually start such a title. Thus the question in the end 'would you buy it?' Casamasina seems to have, unfortunately, dillusions of grandeur. Just because thanks to a couple of his interviews and 'press pressure', some game developers opted to include certain features such as 16:9 and 480p, he now thinks he can rock the world of gaming with 'the power of the press'. I wish him all the best, but companies are known to listen to financial advisers and statistical analysts, not self-proclaimed journalists.
I would leave subbie to answer that, he knows more about the DS than anyone around here. And about Casamasina, I wouldnt call him "journalist" since I doubt he went to college at all....
DKR is comming, but it's not entirely DKR now is it? Banjo, Conker, and I think some other characters are absent. For a person that has beaten the original game in n out, +beaten TT the bastard clock-driver in every course (+mirror courses), I can't say I m very happy for their selection of characters! Nevertheless, the DKR DS will play online, and I ll make my girlfriend buy it so I can play online with her and brag about winning
And so did the ports of DKC 2 & 3 after MS purchased Rare. Microsoft has no official stance on handhelds (outside the ppc relm), So they dont mind letting rare to continue supporting the DS. Microsoft has gone further even licensing their games to 3rd party publishers to make games based on the IP. Two examples are Mechcommander & Age of Empires for DS. Both were published by majesco and AOE was developed by backbone (not sure who did MC). I dont fully believe matt, I think it's posible but I dont believe they would let him report this. Second his report is not going to do anything to sway microsoft. Also there is a limit to what the DS can do. You only got a little more then 2k polygons to work with (ram limit) per render cycle. Square-Enix has a done a great job with the limit but some of their tricks show (example is in mario basketball, 80% of the maps enviroment were bilboards).
DKR's license by the way doesn't belong to MS. that's why there's no banjo or conker in it. It's a wholy nintendo owned proprerty (in the form it will be soon published on the DS)
sorry for being a technical dick, but Donkey Kong racing and Diddy Kong racing are very different beasts cahaz one is racing with karts/hovercraft/airplane and the other is animal riding (the naughty kind;p )
:noooo: DUH!!! Anything with a nintendo character was returned to nintendo and everything else microsoft got to keep (battletoads, Conker & friends, Banjo & friends, Kameo (remember, game was started on gamecube first), Killer Instint, Perfect dark characters, Jet Force Geminie, ....). speaking of wich, while trying to think of that list, I keep forget how many original characters rare made. Damn its a long list. I hope they make a new conker game, BFD/L&R was and always will kick ass.
It's BS. The Nintendo DS just can't do a FPS game worth a fuck, and that's what Halo is all about. This guy's just a retard wanting attension.
Regarding how capable is the DS hardware for FPS, I have three words: Metroid Prime Hunters. Still, yeah, Halo on the DS sounds crazy. MS shouldn't let their franchises on the competitor's consoles, no matter if they are portable or not.
but what about a strategy based top-view halo? O_O ;p if it advances the story-line, hardcore fans are bound to buy it
Yeap, that and the new banjo are my main reasons why I bought a 360 (albeit relatively early). Speaking of which, Who is developing Diddy kong racing on the DS? Is it still Rareware? And thinking back to Donkey Kong Racing, I think nintendo should get their act together and do it. What ever happened to that Donkey kong Bongo-racer, Kirby and Super Paper Mario for the gamecube by the way? I hope they don't burn in hell! (Actually the bongo racer should be released on Wii, even if it uses the GCN bongo controllers :crying
