All Codemaster games use special cartridge mapper that is not implemented in MD Everdrive.

Also, I think this game makes use of extended video mode that is not supported by Mega Drive hardware, only display correctly on Master System last revisions.

Is there an updated list of unsupported/non-working games?

"Virtua Racing, Mega Man and some EA Sports games" according to the manual. Virtua Racing is obvious, the others are the weird SRAM issue mentioned above and you can probably find hacked ROMs for the important/popular ones.

I'd be interested in a list of what SMS games don't work.

I didn't start this thread or I would have updated the first post. That said, the list is really very short. Virtua Racing is an obvious one, that will never work. Luckily Virtua Racing Delux on 32X works fine!

Someone had mentioned Rambo III, well that game works but it's one of the weird ones that seems to require you to reset after loading the game into the Everdrive MD. Or leave the auto reset option on.

I personally reviewed all the EEPROM-like save games, and if you find a hacked version (they are on most of the main rom sites) they will almost always work. Exceptions are the Cricket games that don't work on NTSC systems.

Mega Man Wily Wars works fine, with the proper hacked version, and there's even a version that saves.

So to summarize, on my North American NTSC Model 1 system, only Virtua Racing and the Cricket games don't work. That's me testing USA and European releases, including the US SEGA channel games. Does not include Japan-only games, because they're too much of a pain for me to track down and download, but as with the U/E games, the limitations will probably only be if they used EEPROM saving you'll need a non-EEPROM hack.

In terms of SMS, that is a longer and more complicated list. We discussed it in the other thread at this point. The glaring culprit, if you have a NA/NTSC SMS like me, is that there are several games that were programmed with PAL timing that the NTSC systems don't like. SMS Forum has a text file with a list of the problem games. Download here.

Sorry, I wasn't clear in my original post. I was looking for a list of SMS game.

Thanks Greg! That's exactly what I was looking for!

The contribution to this thread has been amazing, thank you all.

I would edit the first post but i'm really busy with work atm. As soon as I get a chance I will update the first post with confirmed working roms. Sorry about my lack of organisation guys!

EDIT: Just realised that I have a list of some non working games that i've found recently, and that haven't been mentioned here already. Will post soon!

I have recently bought an MD Everdrive and have updated its OS to the latest version (2.5 I take it...)

I have tried many games with some problems. I will cite what I ran into so far.

NOTE: I downlaoded a full GoodMD set, so my ROMs are supported and, allegedly, confirmed good dumps.

    - Shinobi 3 - Comes up with a "This game was designed for an NTSC system" screen. I am running MD Everdrive on a japanese Sega Megadrive.

    - Mega Turrican - It is recognized as an SMS game, for some reason. Why?

I will gladly post more as I go though the library of games, but these two are some of my favorite games ever :/

Is there any mail I should send tehse reports to?

    Cheers!

Forget Goodsets, as they're full of bad dumps and other oddities. If you want a clean set, stick with No-Intro releases. I can confirm that Shinobi 3 and Mega Turrican both work on my system.

It's expecting an NTSC-US system, most likely. Adding a region switch to a Megadrive is very easy if you want to, or you could just download the NTSC-J ROM.

But that doesn't make sense. It was said that the Everdrivedetects theregion o the ROM andchanges it accordingly. Why is it not patching it, knowing thatI have aJPsystem? I know how to install a switch but one of the deals of me getting an Everdrive was not worryiing about this.

Also, what is "no intro"? I was not using any sort of ROM image with a cracktro in it.

NoIntro is apparently a reliable byte-for-byte dump project. GoodGen is flawed.

As for the region detection... just try the JP ROM and see if it works.

Maybe I am not totally clear here... The JP ROM will of course work, also the Multi region ROMs work...

However, I have loaded american ROMS and european ones, and NONE of them work, saying my Megadrive is not supported.

    I quote from the manual:

My version of the board is indeed 2.4 but it's NOT working, or what am I doing wrong? Please enlighten this noob. I want to know if I have to return it or not.

You have gone into the tools menu and selected region patching to be on, correct?

Could be the already addressed issue with the fact that the MegaKey uses the region code from the rom header rather than forcing to system region (KRIKzz says he will likely add an additional FORCE REGION option at some point). You might need to just patch the region code in the rom header to make it use the correction region

Shinobi III came also for PAL systems, try it.

Mega Turrican is simply worng detected just like Phelios. Try other roms like f1, hl etc.

They're a straight binary dump, so they'll work.
