Yeah I crawled out of whatever hole I crawled into. Anyways I've been looking for a Model 1 Genesis (Can't find a Mega Drive for crap) and would REALLY like a Sega CD model 1. There's one itty bitty problem though... They're not exactly common I checked Ebay listings most of the ones listed are listed as not working or being finicky. So what's up with the Model 1 Sega/Mega CD were they defective? Had high Failure rates people that have them are just holding on to them what's the deal with them? It's kind of driving me nuts. Finding an S-video modded Genesis isn't hard though. (But finding a Mega Drive is)
From what I've been told on several occasions, I believe that the model 1 was quite unreliable compared to the model 2, especially like 20 years on but I don't know what it was about them that was so prone to failure
See above, mod a EU megadrive to be NTSC. Change of oscillator and change the jumpers = NTSC console. Trivial mod
Well I suppose I could do that, especially If I'm going to have to do an S-Video mod myself. I thought I had heard something along those lines. I suppose I could get a CDX but that rules out a 32X or an Xeye again..32X and no S-video so I'm in a bit of a Codumdrum.
Yeah I haven't had much luck either way. Model 2s are ugly, the CDX to my knowledge can't be S-Video modded and doesn't like the 32X, the X'eye also doesn't play nice with the 32X and clone systmes suck. So by process of elimination, S-video Modded Model 1 Genesis/Mega Drive, Sega CD, 32x with that plate thingy and the Sega Trio Power Supply.

But the Jap one above is cheap enough (once you consider UK + shipping). Not sure why Lum seems to like to keep implying its hard to get them into the US.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SEGA-MEGA-D...0745779704?pt=Video_Games&hash=item56522ba5f8 Exactly what I'm looking for but...no cords...eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhh.. Here we go http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sega-Mega-D...1141457678?pt=Video_Games&hash=item3f214a4f0e Now correct me if I'm wrong, I remember asking this before and getting half answers. I can run a Scart cable to a Component converter for RGB right? It would save me a Mod.
Why do you want cords? You are making your own svideo lead, the PSU is generic. That just leaves a pad you are paying $30 for RGB scart -> component converts exist and will work. How good the picture is or any lag - I have no personal experience so YMMV
This is true, I guess I'd want to test it before I did anything to it. I've never actually modded anything before.
Thats because no one is crazy enough to subject themselves to 50hz intentionally lol and a jap one doesnt require the (simple) mod. If you are buying the jap one - there is no modding to do? Just make your own cable, buy the din connector and another cheap svideo lead and away you go.
Shame you're so against a model 2 mega CD, you could have something with a fabulously preserved box like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEGA-MEGA...onsoles_VideoGameConsoles&hash=item5d3a4fc68a
Yeah, I'll keep checking every few days I guess. Grind Stormer is calling me and the Call is LOUD. Well then, I guess the 32x DOES play nice with the CDx BUT can the CDX be S-Video modded? Edit: Thank you Google http://www.multimods.com/CDX.html
