"(most public domain games like that are free for non-commercial uses only)." Thx a lot for the info, i'll ask each pdrom owner, or if there are some problems i'll include only my pdroms... "any version for pc engine duo r {turbo duo} ?" The megacart is a concept for the megadrive/megacd hardware, I'm 99% sure it cannot be done on pcengine and if it can be done it wont be same mechanism... Sorry :/
It makes all segacd/megacd of any model any region and any brand region free... But as I said, some games might require good frequency/region (a few one) so u'll need to swich you genesis/megadrive to get 100% accurency. Another thing is that i'm currently checking multimega (i cannot check wondermega or xeye for now sadly).
In continuation of the ROM legality debate, the BIOS images are also protected by the same laws. I don't know whether you'd get pinched by Sega, but technically because they are software, the BIOS' cannot be distributed either.
"ut technically because they are software, the BIOS' cannot be distributed either." When i was talking of bios that were bioses i coded myself... The segacd bios stay in segacd bios rom of course. "I don't think Fonzie love/know the PCE much than the megadrive " I looked a bit at the HW very different way to work cause of the intensive bankswiching, but never coded anything. But u'r true, i don't love much than the megadrive LOL
Fonzie I have a Wondermega mk1 console. I remember reading that the Datel CDX wouldn't work on the Wondermega because it uses a different BIOS. Do you really think your cart will work? If so I'd be glad to test it out, as long as I could get a refund if it didn't! Let me know. Mat
Hi, "If so I'd be glad to test it out, as long as I could get a refund if it didn't!" Of course, if it doesn't work, refund can be done. Thx a lot. Assuming how the megacarts works, the backup/restore and rom playback *Should work*... But playing other region discs MAY work (well, its a different way of working than the datel cartridge so it may work). I'll PM you once the product will be finished.
Ok, The cartridge has been validated on Multimega (the european CDX) yesterday giving 100% compatibility on the game checked (haha, the tester had two games ).
I'd be interested too! I have a switched PAL MD (region and speed) that I use with a Japanese Mega CD so would like to try it out.
Wow, big interest, thx Here is the webpage to sum up all the features... You cannot order/preorder now, sorry. Launch price is set to 65usd worldwide shipping inclued. Exept there is problem during production that could rise up the price but i'm not worried. http://www.genny4ever.net/megacart/ Thx a lot. I'll use all your question for the FAQ.
Hi, there is no place to preorder now... soon I made a computer tool (windows based) to deal with the megacart (using the printer port and a classic tototek adaptater)... I cannot check it myself because i don't have any printer port LOL... If someone own here a MDpro64 + tototek flasher + cables and don't mind erasing its content and wanted to do some little beta testing, please PM me. PS: It is not the main target of the cartridge (and was not planed first) to deal with a computer but since its possible... Thx a lot.
Fonzie, would it be possible (and more importantly cheaper) to design a Cartridge containing enough RAM (perhaps DRAM) and load games into that from the files stored on a CD in the Sega CD drive? NOR Flash memory is generally fairly expensive and I would imagine getting 32Mbits (4MBytes) of DRAM would be much cheaper. I've pitched this idea out there before as an alternative to more expensive Flash Cartridges. If you have a Sega CD it's a great idea to have a RAM cartridge you could load whatever ROM you want on from the Sega CD. And again if it costs less that's always good.
Hi mottzilla The expensive thing in a flash cart isn't the flash itself, its all the work around... Like the addon hardware, the box, the printing and the time we spent to dev all the stuff... A DRAM cart would require some extrachip to control the address and wont be cheaper for sure... If we made a flash cart, extra simple (not compatible with computer, just with segacd flashing), no plastic case... It would be extremely cheap, but who will buy it actualy?
