So I made a huge noob mistake and wired 5-8 on the mayumi v4 backwards on my psone. (5678 not 8765)

Would this have borked my psone!?!? ha

I rewired it and still the CD wouldn't spin or laser track, it just goes to the mem card/cd player screen. So, I removed the mayumi chip and wires and im still getting the same symptoms.

    Is it salvageable?

My guess is that you blew the +3.3V fuse for the CD controller - double check for shorts, and then get a meter and check the fuses (little black plastic blocks with a "PS" prefix).

    Thanks Bad_Ad84!

According to Bad, it is a 22ohm resistor. I am going to try replacing the SMD resistor with a standard 22ohm resistor.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

    Thanks!

Well, thanks for your help guys... I think i've now fucked it up too far.

I accidentally lifted the pads on the old SMD resistor and so I tried to solder to nearby trace (that went ok), but then I tried to to do the other side and fucked up again and joined two legs of that nearby chip. While trying to pull the solder from there, I managed to break a leg off the chip from where it enters the chip. So I don't think I can repair it at this point.

Oh well, at least I got a little more practice. I am still learning this art! It would have probably worked the first time around had I not gotten those wires reversed. The repair was just too much for my lack of skill!
