Not sure what shocks me more that it's multiplatform or that it's current gen.
Really confusing trailer is that Big Boss that loses the arm? He looks younger in some scenes and then older in others but this may explain the coma for nine years part. After watching it I'm not sure being the big MGS fan that I am something seems 'missing' I just don't feel as excited as I should. I bet it will come out for PS4 as well as the current gen consoles too.
It looks great and all, but why was the trailer that long? And the soundtrack? I liked the original marketing ploy/conspiracy trailer much better. That one got me excited. This one's just... weird.
Weirder than MGS4, should be interesting!!! Not sure I understood the whole story on the previous one but at least it was very enjoyable to play x) I would say that a release on current gen is unsurprising, it would be a big bet to release it on new gen exclusively during times of recession and austerity. It will be a while before the new hardware gather the same momemtum as the current one, I don't think Konami could justify that to its share holders. No audience = no sale. I'm not even sure I will upgrade hardware myself straight away, so many unfinished games on current-gen and previous-gens But I'm ruling it out completely
Something has to sell the next gen right? here's some semi next gen looking game play
I hope that's the beginning of the game. That way they can begin this one like they ended the last one - crawling on the floor.
People really still care about Metal Gear? After all the shit, all the "This is the final really totally closed ending finished story last game, honest", people still buy into it? Really? Ok then....And as much as i love Garbage that song doesn't go at all with that trailer.....I mean come on does it even have a plot anymore? Isn't it just Kojima smoking a massive bong and making games out of his extremely mundane trips now?
I'm not hyped on it but it actually looks like an interesting game. I think honestly with this one they're going for a different type of story and theme. It's not your traditional metal gear game about the usual warfare that is happening at that period of time. I am guessing this is more about the struggle of being a soldier and the things you go through during war based on the song in the trailer that seems to try to evoke more of the emotion than action going on. Ill probably get it, and to keep on current make sense in this economy, I would say it will take two years for next gen to get proper adoption rates, plus if 360 is bc, it's a no brainier.
A scene shows Outer Heaven burning, guess its the original Metal Gear game but from Big Boss perspective? So you have to fight Solid Snake? And BTW wasn't OH in that game located near South Africa? does kojima even cares about following his own crazy story?
It will probably all make sense when it's released, or it will be another mgs2 fiasco story wise. I wonder if the game is sorta a response to vietnam? Based on what I am seeing in the trailer looks like it will deal with a lot of social issues happening around that period.
Except that MG1 happened in 1995, thats gulf war syndrome era not "they took my penis!" tom cruise 'nam
And there will be a boss you throw a hammer at. Everytime a Metal Gear comes out I start wondering, What is Kojima on and where can I get some?
This story takes place in the 80s and before mg 1, so it would make sense on the vietnam thing as the 80s was the time when people started being more open about their experiences when they were in nam.
The thing that's bugging me is if that is Big Boss that's lost his arm then that's a plot hole in the series imo because its not been mentioned in any of the games past this (I know I know its a new game in the series but this is a prequel to MGS) Suppose we'll have to wait for more of the story to develop.
Good stuff, though I'm certain this was "Ground Zero" not so long ago, looks like they've renamed it. Also his story lines/content has had a tendancy to get wierder the longer the series has gone on, also I'm sure I saw a young psycho mantis in there. I'll definitely be picking this up myself as I'm a long time fan of the series... <----------------- Duh!
At the end of the trailer you see Big Boss on a bike with a metal hand. He gets his lost arm replaced very quickly looks like. I liked the trailer as Kojima always delivers on story (in my opinion). I'm hoping theres some fresh aspects to the gameplay. I recommend Metal Gear Rising to anyone who wants a game in the metal gear universe that is a change of pace from the usual sneaking, put guards to sleep scenarios of the main series.
