Quite literally some of the best graphics I've ever seen. Looks very tech demo'ish so who knows what next generation graphics will actually turn out like in practice, but I'm deffinately intrigued.
Running on high-end pc? That said, looks great. Almost Makes me want to play Metal Gear...........almost.
Another trailer has surfaced with a couple of extra minutes gameplay footage at the end ... some neat little touches from Kojima as always! :cool-new:
At the end you can see Xbox 360 and PS3 logos. I find that rather hard to believe too, but whatever. I didn't really like MGS4 - I own it, but I never even finished it - so I haven't been too excited about new MGS games. This looks like it could be interesting, though.
If the story is good, I believe this game. Will be good, and quite controversial in many ways. Cause the little "southern" spot on Cuba they are talking about is of course Guantanamo. Aaah this reminds me of the trailer of Resident Evil 5, where "he had a job to do" ;-)
it's not. Kojima confirmed that the trailer was running on a PC with current gen equivalent specs, aka it wont look anything like that on current gen consoles
Seems strange for them to announce a release on the current generation of consoles with the next iteration looming just around the corner - presumably they already have access to the new dev hardware!? ... :confused-new:
I'm just curious why they have "PS3" and "Xbox 360" at the end of the trailer. It wouldn't make much sense to show a tech demo like this just to have to downscale everything for current gen consoles.
No, Kojima said it was running on a PC with current gen console equivalent specs. If Kojima is to be believed, it will look about the same as the trailer on PS3 and 360. Hard to believe, I know. Kojima's been hyping the hell out of his FOX Engine, so maybe his team really did find a way to utilize every ounce of power from the current consoles. This is the first game I've really been looking forward to since I saw the Rising E3 2010 trailer... and then Revengence happened. But I won't go there again. The trailer was designed extremely well. Using the lighting to briefly make Snake look like he's aged to his older Big Boss appearance (with a gray mullet) was a nice touch. The burned man has also left a lot of fans guessing about his identity, though it's kind of obvious when you consider all the hints. Plus, a reveal trailer... with actual gameplay, already in the middle of development? Squeenix could take a few lessons from Kojima's team.
I have little faith in the final game looking as great as that demo unless they push to next gen, I'll be happy if it atleast runs & renders at full 1080p, also when i said 'current gen specs' that is what i meant, current console gen
It will actually. If you look hard enough, you can see all the flaws. It's just all covered up by blur from bokeh DOF and motionblur. There is basically no AA going on(again, hard to tell from blur. But just look at any high contrast edges.), you can see low poly items, some textures are low res, shadow maps are low res if you look carefully,specular/normal maps up close are low res. Etc. They said this was running on a PC with specs similar to the PS3/360 and you can clearly tell if you look that it was designed with the PS3 and 360 in mind. If a Next Gen PS/Xbox game looked like this, which is a marginal improvement over current graphics. You'd have a hard time selling your console. Not saying it looks anywhere near bad. But certainly not Next Gen in my eyes. Close, but no cigar. It does look amazing however regardless. Only thing we need is a PC version now.
Oh, ok. The way it was worded made it seem like you thought it was running on current gen computer specs, which are obviously far better than current gen consoles. I don't think Kojima said anything about a PC version, but it doesn't sound too unreasonable to believe there will be one. Rising was originally going to have a PC version, the build for Ground Zeroes was shown using a PC, and for what's it worth, Gamefaqs has a PC version listed along with PS3/360. The FOX Engine was also build with the ability to easily port between platforms, so I'm sure a PC version will exist at some point.
Who, who, who? If anything it looks to easily be on par with that new Star Wars game that's being pushed for the next generation of consoles!
Huh? No, it couldn't be. This isn't Solid Snake in the 2000's, it's Naked Snake aka Big Boss in the 1970's (note the eyepatch). Solidus is just a child at the time of this game (as well as Solid and Liquid Snake). Even if it was, Solidus was braindead after MGS2. His body was burned in place of Big Boss during MGS4, but even if there was some nanomachines bullshit way he survived the burning as a vegetable, that's all he would be, a vegetable. Eh, I guess I shouldn't have been so confident in my wording. Truth be told, nobody knows who he really is except for the people working on the game. That said, there are many possibilities of who it could be, but only a few make sense. When you consider the fact that Kojima said he is bringing back someone from the dead, and the fact that this guy looks like he suffered through something severe and life threatening, it gives the impression that the guy is someone who was previously mistaken for dead. 1. Zadornov. Big Boss supposedly killed him towards the end of Peace Walker. It didn't involve fire (at least not from what I remember, it's been awhile), but it's possible that he was cought in an explosion or something unrelated. Their outfit's are nearly identical, minus the hat and gloves. 2. The Fury. Remember him from MGS3? The fire guy in the space suit? Big Boss supposedly killed him and he was engulfed in flames (here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhbjTvok1Fk). If he did survive, he would definately have burns all over his face/body. Plus, nobody really knows what his facial appearance looks like since he was only seen wearing a space suit, so no player would technically recognize him. 3. Hot Coldman. Besides the really stupid name, I honestly don't remember much about him from Peace Walker. He kind of looks like he could be the burned man, but I'd have to do more research about him before I can say one way or another. 4. New Character. It's possible that this guy is someone completely unrelated to the story at this point. The "brought back from the dead" character could refer to someone else, possibly Paz. None of the other theories I've heard really make sense. His attitude and demeanor is nothing like Volgin from MGS3. It can't be Solidus or Psycho Mantis because they're still kids at this time. It isn't Big Boss because he doesn't get burned until the 90's (and you know, we're playing as him. Don't know why some people were thinking this.)
