What is that 3d pile of crap i've seen screenshots of?

Well I'm glad to hear that they'll be the 2D games, though I remain skeptical as to how they'll pull off the "hand gesture" control feature. Somehow I think people will just stick to playing this with an old-fashioned control scheme.

The Wii could really take dating sims to a whole new level.

I was afraid that developers were going to start making games using some form of gimmicky control scheme. Metal Slug can easily be played with the controller as just a controller. There is simply no need to transform "gestures" into game commands for remakes, except that developers think that is the only way to make a game for the new console.

Don't forget about the inevitable "accidents" that are bound to occur too:

havent you guys thought of playing it with the wand in both hands like a NES controller, and using movement to replace the 2 other buttons needed for the game?

Nothing like a game that could run on a playstation to start off new hardware (sarcasm)

I'm afraid that many developers take the retro-orientation of the revolution too far, in lign with ASSEMbler's comment, and although I know the machine isn't as capable as the other two in the presentation department, I fear that most developers will lazily code the hardware, resulting in mediocre graphics, far below the actual potential of the device.

To be honest, only rareware can show off technical power to the point of melt-down, judging from Conker on XBOX. Considering the alledged similarities of graphical power of the XBOX to the revolution, I doubt that we'll be seing Conker-level graphics (good by even the 360's standards) on our future nintendo console.

I'm still having a hard time with this whole "Wii" thing... Imagine the announcer voice guy who always does the title in video game ads...

"Metal Slug Anthology, only for the Wii"
"Red Steel, comming for the Wii"
"Metal Slug, on a Wii near you"
"Title here, for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the Wii"

I'm not trying to make a joke here, those just sound stupid when compared to:

"Red Steel, only on the PlayStation 3"

    Mr. Casual wins the thread.

From what I understand, the playstation version of Metal Slug dropped so many frames of animation, it's not even funny...

Metal Slug 3, 4 and 5 are already released on PS2 and the 6 will be at the end of july, although it's hard to insert real coins in the PS2, without a jamma adapter of course :)
