Wasn't Sony's whole thing that the PS3 blows the tits off of even the most advanced PC?

    I have a question...

Do any of you remember back in 1998-1999 when you first saw Sonic Adventure being demoed for the DC? Pretty flawed stuff (choppy frame rate, odd clipping issues, terrible camera) and not very impressive to say the least given how highly touted the hardware was.

Needless to say, despite Sega's failure, they were able to pull off some impressive stuff with the hardware which at the time looked like it could barely handle a 3D game with ease. Relax...this is first generation stuff. Regardless if its not as powerful as the PS3 (which I still have my doubts about), the point is, good games will come as a result.
    That is all.

Well the thing with the PS3 specs is do they actually seem to add up? You can say the same for the 360 actually, but because it is slower (spec-wise) it seems more believable. Especially when comparing it to a 2 TFLOPs monster of a system. People are saying that Sony is getting most of the TFLOPs off the RSX, 1.8 TFLOPs to be exact. This is the next gen Nvidia card here. How did they pull off that kind of performance, when ATI and them are practically neck-and-neck in the PC sector? Frankly we haven't been told alot about the RSX, their some strange omissions to what you would see in normal spec charts.

problem is you have to programm the demo on something and then let run it on a hardware and i dont know but it sounds real early to have a working ps3 prototype running such a performance

while many things looked like they could have done in realtime others really couldnt be done without rendering but thats just my conclusion

i think its a bit too early to start making any sort of judgements. its not like sony or microsoft had functional consoles at e3, or am i wrong?

i noticed microsoft was using g5 dev units to run their demos and such...i dont know about sony but. its possible that all the 'specs' people are throwing back and forth are all a bunch of crap.
