    Hello,

Is there a possibility to use the Super Famicom with a PAL power adapter or maybe modding (internal) the Super Famicom to use the normal Super Nintendo PAL power adapter?
If there is a possibility do you care to share?
Some years ago I've saw a PAL modded power adapter (he was using a bridge rectifier? inside the case; sadly he didn't want to share the diagram) to work with a Super Nintendo NTSC.

    Thanks!

Don't know if it helps, but I'm using an European Mega Drive 1 power adapter with my Japanese Super Famicom. Works perfectly.

Yeah, all you need is a rectifier - the one used in the PAL SNES is an old RC203 (200V, 2A) bridge so anything that had a better rating than that will work OK. The very common 2W10 rectifier is basically the same thing but with a 1000V rating and will work.

If you look at the rectifier, there are two pins marked "~" - these are for the AC and go to the transformer secondary - the pins marked "+" and "-" are the DC output, and should be wired with + on the outside and - on the inner pin. Note that this center negative configuration is somewhat unusual and a lot of off-the-shelf PSUs are wired the other way.

The other thing to be aware of is that after modifying the PSU you will also need to replace the power plug, since the one used on the NES and PAL SNES won't fit.

I was afraid about the power plug to tell you the truth... That plug is not common here.
I think I will search for a Sega Mega Drive 1/Genesis 1 or Mega Drive 2/Genesis 2 power adapter as I saw they have DC 10 1.2A with the power plug compatible with Super Nintendo NTSC and Super Famicom.

Yeah, that will work with no problems - it's slightly higher voltage than the original Nintendo adapter, but it's just going into a linear regulator IC and the only effect is that the console will run a bit hotter.

Super Famicom doesn't need 10V like Super Nintendo NTSC?
Super Nintendo NTSC power adapter have DC10V with 850mA and Sega Megadrive/Genesis 1&2 power adapters have DC10V with 1.2A

Both the US SNES and the Super Famicom have AC adapters that are nominally rated at 10V DC (which makes sense because the PCBs are identical) - the Megadrive adapter is also nominally 10V DC, but in practice the actual output voltage is a bit higher than the Nintendo adapter. It's nothing to worry about though - all I'm saying is that if the unit seems to be getting a little warmer around the regulator than you expect don't get too alarmed about it.

Megadrive 2/Genesis 2 power supply isn't compatible with NTSC SNES and SFC. It has a centre positive connector that is too small for the socket.
