What is this... the 3rd 3DS topic? Maybe they should all be consolidated under a #Bitch About the 3DS thread.

So now a company has come out and said that they're delaying 2 finished games because not enough people have purchased a 3DS. That company is Natsume.

I've been gaming all my life (35 years) and this is the first time I can remember games being finished and delayed while companies wait for console sales to hit a certain mark. I always figured that once you committed to a release date, if the game was done, that was that.

As we're getting more and more information, I think the picture is becoming clearer. I honestly never thought I'd say it, but if Sony plays their hands right with the Vita, Nintendo really might be in a world of hurt with the 3DS.

Do you think they'd pull the plug? They were willing to get behind the Virtual Boy, going so far as to release Mario branded games for it, giving it a major advertising push, and even seed rental units to stores and do a promotional tour where people could play the thing. Yes, for a short period of time, Nintendo put it's muscle behind the VB... and it failed.

How long will it be before the 3DS is out of the woods? I sense even Nintendo is waffling here. The free games early adopters get? Nintendo doesn't even know what they all are or when exactly they'll be available... what the hell does that mean? Companies are canceling and delaying games... but behind all this the DS is still a viable, popular system. Will Nintendo shank the 3DS like the Virtual Boy? Will they SuperGrafx the thing and just go back to the DSi as if nothing happened?

I do think it's telling that I can't name any 1st party games coming out after Super Mario 3D and Mario Kart 3D. Can you?

They should of waited and released a next gen portable with 3d and not the same old DS+3d at the 250 mark if you ask me.

The situation isn't nearly as dire as your making it out to be. Sure, the 3DS is probably going to be playing 2nd fiddle to the Vita (a first for Nintendo handhelds), but the system has had a significant increase in sales ever sense the price drop.

As for 1st party titles, there's Kid Icarus, Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros, Pokemon, etc. Here's a vid to give an idea of the currently announced lineup:

Worst case scenario is that 3DS becomes the next GBA (which was only out 3.5 years before DS was released).

It is a next-gen portable, Resident Evil and Nano Assault show off what it can do much better then most games.

I'm guessing this is over the 2 Sega games right? If so oldie news (as it was prior to the price drop). =P

The 3DS is upgraded hw over the DS (don't be stupid). Yet even so, it's really not all that advanced on the tech side. It's pretty freaking weak but we should be use to this by now from nintendo. When have they not given out of date tech for their handhelds.

No, this is over two NEW games from Natsumi. One of them was Harvest Moon, the other was Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove. Not old news, and not Sega games.

My fault, because I really don't care about nintendo handheld specs.
So yes there you go, even people here don't know, for all I knew it's a DS + 3d screen

I knew it was somewhat "upgraded" but I just see it as the next DS gimmick upgrade like DS to DSi. I think most people do.

I get to play the same freakin games + a handfull of "new" 3d games, thats awsome for people that already own DS/DSi....

This is AS next gen as adding a bigger HDD to the PS3, design of a new casing, upgrading the firmware to allow playing 3D games and giving it a new name like PS3 Slim.. oh wait

So I do understand that company's are waiting for sales to pick up, especially if the games are 3DS only. Also don't forget the 3DS is hackable by a 5 yrs old knowing how to drag on drop games in windows into memory cards.. since what.. day one?

You can play pirated DS games on 3DS, but 3DS games themselves have yet to be pirated afaik. But then again I don't really been pay attention to that sort of stuff for newer systems.

Looks far too similar to the DS.

Parent's walk into store, ''Shit son, you aren't getting that you already have it.''

Like I said in another thread on the 3DS, to Joe Public the things look the same, feel the same and essentially do the same thing, ie play Brain Training and Nintendogs. There's just no need to update to a new system when in under 6 months the manufacturer has

    A: slashed the price and

B: started playing down the units only real reason for existing in the first place, the ability to play games in glasses-less true 3D.

Mario Kart will inevitably shift units but probably not enough unless Nintendo do the sensible thing and include a pack-in AAA title with the unit for the Christmas rush, free software = sales, always has and always will.

On the subject of software, where's Mario Tennis or Mario Golf, F Zero or Kirby? If potential developers don't see in-house software being released or scheduled, how are they expected to have confidence in the unit themselves? Like the Wii the various iterations of the existing DS are drowning in a sea of shit software that's being churned out with little or no regard for quality or value. Nintendo can't afford to let that happen this time round because of the titles out already at least half are rush jobs and if the rot sets in this early well, it's gonna go downhill faster than Franz Klammer.

Like the DS before it the 3ds is going to be my main Nintendo system and of course before I invest in one I want to make sure the games are there esp My trusty ole DS Lite being dead and all (I still plan to have it repaired)

There are several good-looking 3DS games coming out:

    Star Fox 64 3D
    Super Mario (tentative title)
    Mario Kart 3D
    Luigi's Mansion 2
    MGS: Snake Eater 3D

All of those games look pretty good to me, and it seems that they're probably far enough into development that even if the 3DS does die out, they'll still probably release those games.

Snake eater 3d was probably the only appeal the 3ds had for me, but now that the HD collection is coming out it doesn't really matter.

More like the 20th topic. Seriously, I think we've exhausted the subject at this point. Still, I can't help but comment. :banghead:

    I stand corrected.
Yet it seems Ghostly Groove made it out in japan already. They're just delaying the USA launch but I think it kind of makes sense to hold it off for Halloween.

The sales of the 3DS have nearly quadrupuled in form 80,000 to over 300,000 but only one game has sold over 1 million copies, and you really wonder why, but Nintendo Fan Boys do love buying old rope with Zelda OOT....

Only two other games have sold over 500k with another money for old rope game of Nintendogs + Cats and Pilotwings Resort.

Only three games sell over 250K, these being SSFIV, Professor Layton and Lego Star Wars - Clone Wars, not like any of these games exist on other formats... although PL is slightly newer...

13 other games manage to sell over 100K worldwide, surprisingly this includes breast juggling Dead or Alive Dimensions which has sold evenly across America, Japan and Europe... ironically matched by the Japanese only Pocket Monsters Blast...

Still the 3DS is doing fine, it has been the best selling console the last few weeks and will sell well until at least the Vita shows up, and Nintendo better hope that a Monster Hunter game isn't released soon after.

I think Star Fox 64 alone is a good reason to buy it.

But, here in Brasil, after the price drop, the price is R$ 699,00, that means US$ 435.00 lol (legally, in big stores)

I may be getting one next month... or the other...
