Make sure they aren't just Amiga demos...

If you look closely at that EGM photo (I think I have that issue too!), the character's name is Wirriams..lolz!

No clue. Heck, the only cart I know to touch the internet is a brazilian modem cart that you can use for emails. I doubt that any games featuring netplay existed on the Megadrive, as back then a 33.6k modem was pretty hot stuff. The Internet was just not mature enough.

But, speaking of unreleased Megadrive games, anyone remember the names of the few games that STI developed which were ultimately canned? I seem to recall seeing shots of one or two.

No it's not, his name is Williams but I see why you thought it was Wirriams  Good old Engrish! The woman is called Misao Hata. Odd the way the guy is western and the woman is Japanese.

    Heh, I know!
Been doing some Japanese self-study on the side and figured it was just an Engrish translation issue.
I still love it though.

MegaDrive Mega Modem games did not use the internet, a few Megadrive games DID come out in Japan that were playable with the Mega Modem.... and it was not over the internet, but modem to modem, like Netlink.

Tel-Tel Baseball / Tel Tel Stadium / Tel Tel Baseball Stadium
    Tel-Tel Mahjong
    Cyberball
    a World War strategy game

are the main ones I already listed.

western-developed games that were canned, I have no pics or any info of my own that I'm certain of, but SegaBase mentioned one, Combat Aces

not sure about what STI did.

the bullshit that was Forgotten Worlds Deluxe for Genesis CD. I was SO pumped for this supposed release.
I will not forgive EGM for that one.

This was released. The actual main character shown in the picture is called Lum or Lum-chan. The game is called Urusei Yatsura as is the manga and anime on which it's based. Urusei Yatsura is a point & click adventure that is very good ! The cover looks like this - [IMG]

That one's on pce too. Good fun for sure.

I'm intrigued by Robocop vs Terminator. Any more info known on this!

Things I'm wondering - Did this become the released Cart game? Or were both cart and cd versions touted (say like Lethal Enforcers)? Or was it a different game altogether (in that as much as RvsT can be different)? And so on.

Edit...and in the codemasters one (2nd down)..is that a flier for MM2 or an early cover art design?

Oh here's one "unsual" one. I mean, it was technically released as Sonic CD, but around the time Sonic 2 was being released many magazines were promoting a Sonic 2 CD version:

From what I can understand, Robocop vs. Terminator would appear to be an enhanced version of the cartridge game, with extra levels and a re-done soundtrack.

SuperGrafx - I've been playing Jewel Master ( i think it was also called Ring of Jewels)....
although it is nothing like the original Altered Beast, it is vaguely what I had imagined for an Altered Beast 2 -- a game that is not a forced-scrolling game, but more of an action-adventure type game, more like Shadow of the Beast, Mystic Defender, Castlevania, and countless others. something more sophisticated in gameplay, more adventures, not so much punch. kick and wait for the screen to scroll to the right.
