http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_MqZn7E-mk&feature=player_embedded# Guess who's back! Damn, it looks so sweet.. I just can't wait to see it!
Some are saying this is like a viral advertisement for the new MK game, I really hope that's not the case. I would definitely go see his movie in theaters if it get released.
I guess it's a viral for a new game. Nicely produced viral by the way. Don't think hollywood would spend money on a almost forgotten franchise. Maybe a game + movie announcement? That can also be true.
Hope it comes to fruition... http://www.trmk.org/news/12938/what_is_the_mortal_kombat_rebirth_viral_video.html but looks unlikely
I loved this short film but I m not sure if I can live knowing that Baraka is a black doctor gone mad.
The problem with hollywood is that the studios, producers, directors,... don't understand games and gamers. They don't take us seriously. They always want to soften things (to have a bigger audience), add something that it's not in the game / story and have some "artistic" liberties. Also there's always the "funny guy", the cliche scenes (example: i've been bitten by a zombie, but i won't tell my friends), and stuff like that. Not forgetting the terrible acting and miscasts. If Hollywood was going to produce a Gears of War movie, i bet they would hire Marlon Wayans or Mike Epps to be the "funny guy". :banghead: Most movies based on comic books used to have the same problem, still some directors know what the fans wanted. Just see what Robert Rodrigues and Quentin Tarantino did with Frank Miller's Sin City. Now imagine it being produced / directed by Michael Bay or any of those generic ones...
Sometimes is hard to take games seriously man, even in the MGS series there are some lines that couldnt be done in a movie without people laughing their asses off at how corny it sounds. But then again considering how craptacular most movies are these days, I'll rather not see them using games for "inspiration" (read: make a quick buck off fans)
The same happens with comic books. Just remember Superman returns, Spiderman, and many others. Also, what about Transformers and G.I.Joe? Have to agree on this. Don't want MGS, Halo, GoW, Killzone,... having lame movies.
Touche, and the movie versions of some were even worst:lol: It depends, District9 is what the Halo movie was supposed to be, so had thing gone as intended it would have been oscar-grade material
keep in mind when it was Halo, it was going to have a HALO plot. Once it transitioned from Halo to Discrict 9 it got it's plot changed and then it got an oscar nomination... D9 as intended you can't say would have gotten an oscar...
I agree with that. Baraka shouldn't be turned into something so lame. He was some kind of weird ass creature from Outworld part of the Tarkatans or something like that. Changing that into basically mad scientist is just lame. I'd like to see another MK movie, but only if they really put effort into it. Not like the last one they made that was god awful. The first MK movie was atleast decent so they can make something good from MK.
