Here's a nasty slim PS3 that I fixed for my buddy.
It came from a house infested with roaches.

All the little specks is roach shit and when I went to give the case a nice bath I found one live roach in there.

You all have made me terrified to open the PS3 I got free off Craigslist (blinking red light, BTW). I was about to open it last night, but apparently I need a SECURITY torx bit instead of a regular one, so it'll be done when I get the bit set off Amazon.

As far as media in consoles, I've been lucky. All I've gotten were Ecco in a Genesis model 1, Marvel vs Capcom 2 (for PS2) in an Xbox, and Star Wars Battlefront 2 in a PS2.

^ Off topic but those security bits can be pretty easily removed using a small flat screwdriver... might have to try a few different sizes but I've done it before I had security bits handy.

I wouldn't do that. It will damage it even more, therefore it would be even more difficult to unscrew it.

Yeah, plus it's not right under the pad (it's about an inch or so down), so getting the leverage to even try that would be difficult, especially with a tiny flathead.

I already wrote that I've done it before (several times) with no issue and without ruining anything. I know exactly which screw you're talking about on the fat PS3.

I now have the bits so I don't have to do that but when I didn't have the bits, that trick worked fine.

I've only ever found some dirt and grass inside of a PS2 controller. I gave it a thorough cleaning, and it has worked perfectly ever since.

All I can imagine is that some poor kid was forced to play video games and go outside.

Reading through this thread now I wish I took a photo of a Wii that I got for $1. It was beat up to hell but still powered on! The power supply was really dirty, but I didn't pay much attention to that. I took it apart to clean it and there were a ton of dead roaches and so much roach crap that it looked as if they had a paintball war in it.

I actually tried cleaning it, however the damage was too much and I ended up throwing it away. I got Mario Party 9 out of it though which was nice.

I answered a job ad off craigslist for "Video game console repair". I got there and it was a large video game ebay seller warehouse with lots of people boxing things up and such. I ended up just doing repairs to Guitar Hero drum sets (basically two wires and some glue) all day. Not what I was told the job would be. Anyway one of the controllers I opened up had TWO cooked chicken wings inside. One eaten, the other not.

Other then that... just pennies inside of Sega Genesis, SNES and NES consoles (this seems to happen a lot for some reason) and some spider eggs in a Sega Saturn.

My guess would be children + video game systems + penny sized slots on the sides/back = a richer video game system.
