Lousy Xbox...tricked me into buying it...with that one awesome game...what's it called again..... rayer: rayer: Halo rayer: rayer: Am I the only one who thinks Halo is the only thing Xbox is good for...aside from that emulation stuff you crazy kids do.
I dont even think Halo is any good :smt043 Xbox is about the lowest on my list, somewhere between another 2600 clone and the Gamate :smt040
Actually, the Gamate had one cool feature going for it....you could actually hook it up to a TV to play unlike the Gameboy! :smt043
I guess i am the only one here who actually likes the XBOX. That seems crazy to me. :smt011 The XBOX will always be better than the Playstation 2 in my eyes. Everyone says, oh the playstation has the most games, but the truth is that 90% of Playstation 2 games are Shit. Sony is not a games company. They are an electronics company. They are trying to change gaming with all-in-one devices like the PSX. To me, well that is just plain gay. I hate Sony. Now, before you call me a fanboy, i will tell you i am not. Even though i hate Sony, i do have a ps2 and the only four games worth playing on the system. Jak and Daxter, Jak II, Ratchet and Clank, and Ratchet and Clank II. Now, before you get mad and say, Microsoft is not a games company either, let me tell you that in my eyes they are closer to a games company than Sony will ever be. They have been making computer games for years. They got interested in the console business, and they made a fine games machine. The Gamecube will always be at the top of my list, but the XBOX comes in a close second.
Nope, you're not the only xbox fan here! I've been a satisfied xbox fan since day 1! Got the system the day it launched and have enjoyed it ever since. Best next-gen system hands down!
So have Sony, I have old Sega Mega CD games made by them! I dont think people here particularly love the PS2 either, both consoles have in their own way made gaming too mainstream, with countless FPS/RTS/Sport/Driving clones. I have all the current consoles, and about 12 games on the PS2, and only 4 on the XBOX (Halo, which is actually shite, DOAXBV because its silly and enjoyable at the same time, Splinter Cell: pandora tomorrow and Panzer Dragoon Orta). I wouldnt say that means I prefer the PS2 over the XBOX, but so many XBOX games are either on another console (and cheaper) or are generic PC conversions. I mean seriously, how many goddamn FPS/War RTS games does one console need? It's not a bad "console" it just doesn't have enough immediately accessible/interesting games. Emulation and DivX are a winner though!
I'm not a fan of Sony (before retr0 unleashes the fury of the gods down upon me), but the PS2 has, imho, the best share of games from Japanese third parties coming out for it, which is why I like the system. (thats not the main reason why I got it though, I got it because a friend of mine had it running spare and he said I could borrow it indefinitely :smt033 ) And didnt Sony also make Philosoma? Sorry to drag this topic further down into the murky depths of off-topicness, but there wasnt really a topic (or even a point) to begin with :smt043
So, they made games for the Sega CD, but they were never a serious games company, and recent events have pushed them even farther from ever becoming a games company. "The Playstation 2 wants to be a PC when it grows up", that was a quote i read in a games magazine one time, and i think it is very true. Sony does not want a games machine, they want entertainment devices. I don't need a PS2 to play DVDs because i have a DVD Player that has way more capabilties than a ps2, and i don't need a PSX, because if i want a PVR, i can buy a TiVo. I want a system that is made to play games. I know the Xbox can play DVDs, but if you want it to play DVDs, you have to buy the special remote. Microsoft did that because they wanted to stress that the XBOX was a games machine, not a media device. Even Sony's PSP is gonig to be a media device.
Not a serious game company? you do know how many games they made Pre-Playstation? Seriously though, how many in-house Microsoft games are there? I have no idea, and I can't imagine there are a huge amount. I agree with what you say about Sony wanting an "all in one" device in every home, but give Microsoft time, and they will no doubt come up with a similar device.
Sony did also make games for the NES and SuperNES under the Sony Imagesoft brand. They made games like Hook and Extra Innings, which were released in the early 1990's.
Yes, i know they made games way before playstation, but what i am trying to say is that they are not a serious games company. They might have been a long time ago, but not now. I just never saw them as a serious games company. They were just and electronics company trying to make an extra buck in the video games market.
I like the Xbox too. I don't like sony and don't like microsoft. But you all have to admit, M$ created a powerful console. Don't want to start a flame, but: Xbox have Halo, Panzer Dragon, PGR2, Ninja Gaiden, a lot of emulators and media players. And the multi-platform games have better graphics in the Xbox version (Burnout2, POP, LOTR...). Also comes with Network adapter and harddrive to save games and download new game content.
Why? its not become a flame war, just people voicing opinions. If it gets out of hand, yeah, but I don't think its got bad yet?
PS2=PC? Try Xbox=PC If you haven't noticed the Xbox is a legacy-free PC. Microsoft wants to bring PC games to the mainstream/living room so any moron can play them. They are also probably the biggest force behind the "better graphics = better game" movement. I cannot even count the times the times I have gotten in an argument with Xbox fanboys claiming that the Xbox's graphics "pwn" PC's. Most of Microsoft's so called in house games are made from companies they desperately tried to assimilate so they would have some half decent exclusive games for Xbox.
