Moving to Japan in March for a Job

    GP so true !

    I have had a fair amount of deliveries lately and they give a long speech every now and then and I say pretty much 1 word (most of the time "hai" or "wakarimashita" ) then they go into another long speech and I wait for the pause and give them a word.

    Works fine -> like a machine :)

    The first month being in Japan is probably the most expensive one. So better dress warm.

    Yes, but as Spot778 pointed out there is some weird shit too. The politeness is very robotic. As such, chivalry is basically dead. Read this depressing article.

    There are other things to take into account on whether this place is ideal or not. It's a good place to live with a high standard of living but there are many gotchas... the biggest one other than the cost and them pulling off the biggest hoax ever (Japanese 'efficiency') is that Japan is unlikely to unfuck itself in the next 50 years. So, learning Japanese will basically be used to understand games and anime porn better.
