I looked it up the other day in my World Geography book, and sure enough it said, Australia/Oceania. So, I am guessing either one is acceptable.
Sorry but Australia is the name of the continent and not Oceania. Oceania is the name for that part of the world much like the Middle East or Caribbean. www.websters.com O·ce·an·i·a ( P ) Pronunciation Key (sh-n-, -n-, -än-) The islands of the southern, western, and central Pacific Ocean, including Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. The term is sometimes extended to encompass Australia, New Zealand, and the Malay Archipelago. Aus·tra·lia ( P ) Pronunciation Key (ô-strly) 1. The world's smallest continent, southeast of Asia between the Pacific and Indian oceans. 2. A commonwealth comprising the continent of Australia, the island state of Tasmania, two external territories, and several dependencies. The first British settlement, a penal colony at Fort Jackson (now part of Sydney), was established in 1788. The present-day states grew as separate colonies; six of them formed a federation in 1901. In 1911 Northern Territory joined the commonwealth and the Capital Territory, site of Canberra, was created. Canberra is the capital and Sydney is the largest city. Population: 17,843,000. No homework for tonight. Class adjourned. :smt023
So I guess my book was refering to the Oceania area when it was talking about Australia as well. Either that or it is a shitty book :smt043
Don't let Castro hear you say that. Though you can mention "pigs" and "bays" around him any time you like ;-)
http://www.periscope1.com/demo/nations/cacarib/index.html castro don't love america , sure (well, more the usa than everyone else) but he's still in it. :smt045
You mean the Americas, buddy. When you say 'America' that refers to the US. And Cuba sure as hell is not part of the US.
IMHO the fact that "America" refers to the US is technically not correct, of course it has "grown" that way as everybody says it, but actually it should refer to the whole of North and South America (for instance, as in the OAS, Organization of American States)
