It's already been confirmed that it was not a nuclear bomb, there was no seismic activity after the blast and no radiation clouds were seen via satalite nor measrued at the chinese border.

Why should you be worried? I mean, the rest of the developed world has nuclear weapons, And until these are destroyed The less developed countries are going to feel they need them in the interests of self defence

Anyway, For now at least, No country except for the US or possibly China would use them. Why? Because of fear of retaliation - Until you have big enough muscles to hit the big boys hard enough that they won't be able to hit back, you don't bother

Just my thoughts on Nuclear weapons....Nothing to be worried about, until we have another country big enough to compete with the United States

IMO that's not the reason why the US or China would ever launch nukes. It's not all about muscle there is to an extent an amount of (m)ass too.

Smaller countries are less likely because of their smaller land mass a retailiation would wipe them out.

Bigger countries like the USA & China have a much, much larger land mass, so if 1 area gets nuked there are still plenty more areas which are habitable, hence they can afford to be nuked.

i just talked to my father about this and i am back on track

it is the fuckers North Korea who had made a neuclear bomb

although China (maybe USA too?) says they have not seen or anything and bla bla bla plus some yadda yadda etc.

because do you remember about the thing when they opened the core on there neuclear power plants ?

the only thing i can say is hmmmmm ;-) :-/

and i am not really that sure when it comes to some facts.

by the way Denmark is a no nuclear country although we could the weapons and power tomorrow if we wanted because we are the canary birds of the big boys when it comes to the government.

and i am sorry if i jumped on some toes when i bashed the hard words out but sometimes i just write what i feel.

I don't think the US has to worry too much when it comes to other countries launching nukes at them. I mean think about it for a second.
With all the money they spend on the military don't you think they would have some sort of defense mechanism top secret or otherwise?

    re

I don't really care for my country too much either, but not all of us that live in the US are dipshits. I don't really feel like being nuked anytime soon...

  15. Agreed. If this second choice is so bad, might I consider moving back before the nukes come in? The borders are always open to emigration - we certainly let enough of y'all in.

It was a nuclear test. Rumors have been floating around that N.Korea was getting ready to test a bomb sometime this month. I don't see why this is such a big suprise, it's not like we didn't know they had the capability or anything.

What makes this even scarier is that any nuclear explosion, anywhere in the world, has the potential to set off the early warning system which is still in place against Russia. I know, it's been fourteen years since the end of the cold war, but beleive it or not the USA and Russia still have thousands of nuclear bombs pointed at each other with a hair trigger.

Metal_4ever, there is no functional "Missle defense shield." They've spent over a trillion dollars trying to develop something since the early 1980's but as of yet can't get it to work. It's like hitting a bullet with another bullet, not impossible but the technology does not exist yet to make it feasible.

The most they've been able to do is shoot down slow moving WWII era missles (Like SCUDS in the 1st Gulf war.) But a modern, fast moving ICBM, forget it. They can't hit one of those without some kind of tracking device attached. The last series of tests were in 2000, right before Clinton left office, over Alaska- you could see the explosions from my house (I live just north of Los Angeles.) I got some B&W photos of the lightshow, I'll try to find them and post them here.

However, building a nuke and actually getting a missile to carry it are two different things. Developing an ICBM from scratch can take decades, and seeing how most of that science is top secret I don't think N.Korea will get one any time soon. Thier best bet is to buy it from disgruntled former Soviet people (who guard these extremely dangerous Nuclear instillations and make like minimum wage.) You have more to worry about Kim Il Jung placing the bomb on a frieghter and sailing it into your harbor terrorist style than a missile streaming overhead.

I of course, think we should just kill them all. Before they kill us that is.

Like it says in the article, I dont think they conducted a test above ground, as the nuclear fallout would certainly cause a lot of damage. And yes, I do think NK's ass needs to get kicked rather now then when shit really hits the fan :smt071

  18. Yeah, I'm not really for the whole pre-emptive warfare thing, seeing where it's gotten us now, but then again, these guys are a lot scarier than Iraq ever was.

And how could it NOT have been a nuclear blast - conventional munitions aren't capable of creating the indicative mushroom cloud, much less create a blast of that size (~2 miles, as reported) unless you've got a shitload of them, and what's the point there? Forest fire my ass, it seems to me another case of news agencies panicking and trying to make something totally obvious sound less scary.

About their Missiles. N. Korea is developing ICBMs. They WERE in reaching the southern most tip of the Alechuian(sp?) Island chain off the coast of Alaska. I think it was 765 miles away fromt the last islan in the chain. That can also reach the Southernmost point of Japan. So yeh, Gaijin Punch has a right to be worried and so should the US. Oh well. N. Korea is next on the list.

now can you blame poor bugger at the southern end of peninsula trying to develop NW? :p
from what I read they tried that back in 70s and if it wasn't US they could've made one in early 80s... looks like they now have raw materials but lack of technical knowhow stopping from making one of their own...

frankly can't blame them making one and once Japan followed the suit the whole Korean peninsula will be interesting place to watch - but not safe to live... :D

i'd say to hell with US, go and get your own NW or WDD...
just don't be stupid and use it for real...
now come to think of there are several stupid countries with NW capability that I'm worry about...

    oh well...
