I've been working on some stuff under the name EARL, and was wondering if you all would be so kind as to give my tracks a listen and some criticism. Off the bat I feel most of them need to be shorter, but I just haven't gotten around to taking care of that yet. Let me know what you guys think. http://www.soundcloud.com/earlstorms
Just noticed that topic. I make mostly dub techno (which, by traditional music standards, can be considered VERY repetitive, you've been warned), I've released a couple of albums on small labels as well as eps and a lot of remixes... Some sounds : http://soundcloud.com/axs
Crailtapper, I really like some of your tracks, especially the ones with softer sounds (though that being said, I'm halfway through "Vices" right now and am really digging it (edit: it just finished... a little abrupt, I thought it was just going to fade out nicely, maybe try that out?). Your melodies are really good and the synth programming is interesting and pleasing. Octaedre, Not really my style but you're very talented. Very good programming aesthetic. All the techno (etc) guys around here have this "teenager in his basement on a laptop" feel to all of their tracks, or the "I just downloaded FL Studio and Reason off of thepiratebay last week". You've got a very professional sound. ---- As for me, I've got an olddddd EP released through a local arts magazine a couple years ago or so. http://fractionsjournal.com/collections/29 I think you'll like this one, Crailtapper. I think we have a similar taste. Then I put out a c20 on 5nakefork Records. This past year has been a lot of miscellaneous. One EP thingy on http://sirbaar.bandcamp.com/ Haven't worked on anything in a while since I just moved and helped a buddy score a film. I try to play my synths instead of using the computer... but it's not always practical.
Really really good stuff. I like that type of music, but I've never had any term to describe it. It's just "that stuff that gets published on tapes and sounds like a soundtrack to an 80s movie gone wrong". You know, the Skaters (James Ferraro), Explorers (your ep on bandcamp reminded me of that album, Bermuda Telepaths, great ambiences on this one), Eternal Tapestry, Motion Sickness of Time Travel, Oneohtrix Point Never, that sort of thing. And I love this, that sort of underground aesthetic, with the lo-fi recordings, xeroxed artwork and such. Really one of a kind.
That's some pretty interesting stuff. I like the parts where it gets more energetic/melodic. I made a Soundcloud account the other day and posted 1 song. I've been working on it for a while. Enjoy. http://soundcloud.com/true-fluke/cookies
