OH shit, another noob posting his collection.... It's worth a look: http://www.jaysmith2000.com Still in the build phase, but coming along..... Thanks for looking!
Wow nice stuff dude!! Thumbs up Even if i don't like the Jaguar much, i like that huge collection of it
Awesome... I want to try that VR-Pod really nice collection! All I got is a pretty plain Jaguar + CD and a few games
Holy shit, it's both Jag VR headsets!!! The Holy Grale and the Arc of the Covenant of all Atari collectors, for sure.
I have been tempted to sell on 2 ocassions with some pretty incredible offers being made. Not sure how serious one was, but the other is a serious Atari collector so I think he was good for it. They're pretty revolutionary for their time and work very well. However, for those of you who have never used a VR system before, some people can handle 'em and others can't (motion sickness). My wife only lasts about 1 minute on my Virtuality units....
I did a big update on my site today in the "Beta/Prototype Registry" section. Shows about 50% of my protos with pics for the Jaguar and I added some folks that have made submissiosn for the registry. Good stuff if you're an Atari fan... http://www.jaysmith2000.com
No direct link other than relationships with folks that worked there, but yes hardcore Jaguar collector. @OE, thanks. I apprecaite it.
Bastard. Expect my next shipment of protos to be dumped on their way Monday. Damn I've just been too busy.
Hmm, I guess many people aren't into Atari enough to have heard the name Jay Smith before Nice kiosks! I've seen a two player kiosk over here in the UK, I do believe.... it was in a shop back when the Jag was on sale. Is that a virtuality pod?
:-D That's cool you saw a 2 player kiosk! I've been asking for years if anyone else has ever seen one, you're the first. Yep, that's a Virtuality Pod. It's an SU2000E prototype. I also have 2 SU2000's, but they're in the attic, didn't have room for them. Great systems! I got a heck of a deal on them too. In the end they were essentially FREE. :smt045 @G, yeah man get those bad boys sent and I'll get 'em dumped.
Jay, I may be wrong on that one... but I remember the setup distinctly, and it seemed fairly thin, and I was pretty sure there were 2 pads. It was in my local Rumbelows, a chain store on most high streets in the UK back then... but they had difficulties themselves and closed, selling off Jags cheap. I guess the kiosks mostly got destroyed. I remember going in 2 stores and playing on them. It is possible they were different. One had AVP, the other Tempest 2000. I remember a lot of kiosks back then (e.g. MegaDrive in Boots) reset after a certain amount of time... and it is possible that this one did, too. They also had some shelves for games with banners on. I'll take a look as I think I still have a Rumbelows catalogue, which may well show this.
That would be awesome if you had a pic of one. Very cool indeed. My 2 player is set up for Tempest 2000, so that very well may be. Too bad they destroyed them. The Kiosks for the Jaguar are pretty damn cool. Well designed anyways. I'm looking forward to anything you can find. Thanks!
I've had a little look where I thought it was, but alas, it wasn't there! I shall persevere!! Do you have a Panther? I was tempted to buy the one on eBay last year (or was it early this year?) - it didn't go amazingly high, iirc, but funds were a bit tight at the time - d'oh!! Why don't the VR guns work? Is it because they are incomplete, the design is flawed, or they once worked but are now broken? Lovely Virtuality setup(s)! I'd love to have one... of course there were the two pods on eBay... but on their own and located in the US... they weren't for me, unfortunately!! Still, I own the original brochure... guess I will have to be content with that for the time being!!!
