Then why people buy $250 million paintings from Picasso? or why people collect stamps (they HAVE to be used on a letter, that IS their goal)?
World is full of insane people then.

    Congrats!

    I will.
Inside the Emit Value Set are the 3 Emit games (regular releases, same serial number) and a styrofoam to "complete" it.
It is "fatter" because it is 2 games width (Emit 1&2 on a side, Emit 3 & styrofoam on the other one, and Emit games are double cd cased), since there is 3 Emit games (+ the styrofoam)..Other Koei "sets" are 2 games only, then only "1 game width"

PSOne is hard for two reasons:

    a) the sheer size of the PS library (over 3000 titles)
    b) some really rare games - and I'm not talking about Hibaihin but regular retail editions

But I'd kindly disagree on Game Boy. Some are hard to get with box, especially old pre-GBPocket releases. But you can do it if you're patient. They all pop up from time to time on Japanese auction sites or in stores. However, this is NOT the case with some fu**ing rare and often shitty PS titles... :banghead:

Yeah, you're right. But who needs all the best-versions anyway? Doesn't make any sense to me. :katamari:

Anyway, great collection Adol! Really impressive.

    Several reasons:

    1) Re-released games (PlayStation the Best, PSone Books) sometimes have bug fixes.

    2) Re-released games sometimes comes with extra features.

One example is the PlayStation the Best version of Akumajou Dracula X: Gekka no Yasoukyoku which contains some minor addition involving familiars.

A better example is the Ultimate Hits version of Front Mission 2 or the version from the Front Mission History box set which comes with gameplay upgrades. In this case, it offers a bonus "battle skipping" feature to make the game less boring.

This point isn't unique to Japanese-released games though. The American PS2 Greatest Hits version of Silent Hill 2 comes with an added Maria scenario that wasn't in the original, if memory serves me correctly.

    3) Not aware of any PS1 examples yet, but sometimes re-released games come with bonus CDs/DVDs.

The PlayStation the Best version of Devil May Cry comes with a bonus soundtrack CD. The original "black-label" version of DMC only comes with the game DVD.

Of course, the first 2 points would only be useful if you're a collector that also plays games. And the third point is neato.

Because having variations is just stupid if you ask me. If the game is different then yes, they are needed but if all that's different are the covers then I'm sorry to say but that's just being anal in my eyes.

I'm going for a full Saturn set as you know so to me a full set would be EVERY full priced game released to the public but NOT including variations. So say you own Thunder Force Special edition then there's no need to own the original. Sega Rally on the other hand would need 2 versions being the original release and then the re-release with online game play and clean ups. I don't think owning the Satakore budget release as well is necessary since it's identical to the re-released version apart from the cover. Same goes with the likes of Bomberman, Virtual On and a few others. As a nice side bonus sample discs and promo discs are nice to own but I down necessarily think they should be part of a full collection.

I've no idea what I need since I've never put my collection list up against an official list but I do have over 1000 games. There are loads that I see in shops every time I go game shopping but I just don't want to pay big money for mahjong games (Which I'm missing many of) and adventure games that I'd never play.

Thanks for the offer on the Saturn games but to be honest I don't think you'd be able to sell them to me cheaper than for what I could buy them for here in Japan. However if you really want to sell them off cheap then sure, I'd be happy to take them off your hands if I need them. I can send you an excel file of my Saturn list if you'd like to look through it. Best of all it's in English unlike most of the best ones on the net which are all in Japanese I find.

By the way, do you have the Rockman FMV saturn game? I'm not sure if that ever got released although I have been told that it did. If it did it must have been in very small numbers because I've never seen it.

Yes, that's the one! I've never seen that game EVER!

Do you have a list of what Saturn games you are selling? That would be the easiest way I guess.

Its not uber-rare, but still rather uncommon. I'd say it is like TryRush Deppy or Gals Panic.

I'd like to buy one :)

What do you mean by "benchmark"? I had quite some trouble finding it complete w/spine+reg-card. Graphically its quite nice I'd say, definitely a good example for 32-Bit 2D.

There are several ones on YAJ currently, not that cheap yet ;)

By "benchmark" I mean "comparison".I just agreed with you that Tryrush Deppy was as uncommon as Super Adventure Rockman(maybe a bit less). It's a nice game indeed.
In the same type of "not so well known 2D plateformer game" on saturn,I really love Super Tempo from Red,really an amazing game. But well,it's a bit off-topic I guess :)

Down where I live Try Rush Dippy is not rare at all. I can see it almost every time I go game shopping. Looks liek all the Rockman games went to Tokyo while we got the Try Rush Dippy games.

Some weird fact about my TryRush is that I looked into every Retro Store over in Japan and there was just no copy around - not even an incomplete one. Then 6 months later, a friend of mine sold his copy so that I could pick it up only 30km away from my home. ^_^

    @Karellen
Yeah, but these are all w/out spine. There is a seperate spine-card for sale as well, but I'm still too frustrated by a 2600yen auction for a complete one that I missed some time ago, so that I don't want to ever spend more than that on the game ^^

I sold Tryrush Deppy some months ago on Ebay for 30€.
I have a Tryrush Deppy spine card extra if you want one!
