In about 10 min I will be the proud owner of a playchoice ten unit, besides playing the nes games it's got on it, what else could I do with the cabinet/moniters? will any other games work with this cabinet?
the only thing more that I know about it is that there is a homebrew bios on nesdev for it. http://nesdev.parodius.com/#DocsEtc also, here is a link someone posted on the nesdev board: http://playchoice.riemen.net
Well I found out what the resolution is on the moniter and it was about what I had expected, though it was a little lower then I had hoped. Is there anything that would make it impossible or very difficult for me to put in a better screen and a three button joystick setup?
The power cord for this thing has black, white, and green(ground) wires, does it matter which outlet the black and white wires go into? I've found the "ac in" on the machine, but what color goes in what hole is not labeled.
as I said before I don't really know anything about them.. but if they are anything like the VS unisystem (also from Nintendo) they output inverted rgb and need a speciall monitor / some hardare to convert to normal rgb. (all this is from memory and may not be true ) but I recommend to check out the second link I provided, they have lots of manuals, info and I think they had a messageboard too.
Mairsil helped me with the colors thing, try and find one of my old naomi threads and it says what each is
well I got the power input problem solved, but only one moniter turns on and I don't think any power is getting to the pcb. Sometime today I'm going to go through and see if all the jumpers are set correctly.
I was able to find the official inverter board to run standard games on the Nintendo monitors (and vice versa) for my VS. Dr. Mario cabinet, if anyone's interested in a scan of the PCB.
Anyone have any info on the converter alvis mentioned? I pm'd him, but I'm too impatient to wait for a reply. If anyone has a scan of this or knows the actual name of the converter I would appreciate it.
hope this helps.. b\c it was a pain in the.. to get it out of the box I had it stoed in sorry for the dust/dirt on it.. I blame the old owner.. havn't had the time to clean it up large image
Somehow I missed you saying you had one as well, would have sent a pm had I known. Thank you so much though, this actually may be what I need to finally get some use out of these machines.
heh no problem did a fast google and found this one: http://www.quarterarcade.com/Game.aspx/2255 it doesn't look like mine.. but from what I understand, it does the same also I found this doc too, on lots of pages: http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/spies.cgi?action=url&type=info&page=NewNintVidInv.txt
I need someone to fix up the monitors in my Playchoice Would let me play it a bit more often then I do now heh
heh. I don't even have a monitor.. that is why the stuff was so dirty.. can't use it. was going to buy a cab in the beginning of this year.. but it didn't happend b\c I feelt that I didn't have room for it. but as soon as I'm moving out (pretty soon I hope) I'm getting one ^^ btw.. here is a page from the manual that has to do with that card (just the bottom part of the page). don't know if it's of any interest.. just thought I posted it
Thats why me = no play with monitors lol. I just about had a heart attack when the screwdriver slipped when i was adjusting the screen and threw up a few sparks. Needless to say, i havent played with any monitors since.
I'm a little confused here, I thought this board could be used to run standard jamma games on a playchoice monitor, but the more I read it seems like it's used to run non-playchoice nintendo arcade games on a playchoice.... sorry it took so long to reply, I tend to mess around with the cabs for a week or two then give up right before I get the urge to smash them all.
