My first genesis full mod.

Hi guys and first of all thanks to all of those who help me make this mod with the advices.
Here is my first Genesis model 1 custom paint and fully modified with the composite, s-video, stereo, region and overclock. Your opinion are very important to me and grow better for the next time.

Love the mod and the work you put into it, but I would of kept the original gold lettering on the "16-bit" text.

Damn nice, though IMO it needs one last bit: 16-bit needs to be red.

 

Thanks for your toughs , and yes the 16 bit will go red, and like I said the color is because I want it to be some kind of Hello Kitty, the Sega Genesis logo will go too but I'll put them with some custom made vinyl stickers.

 

Very good mod. I like how you used little boards for everything. When i did mine i just slapped everythink in there. I was not impressede with my own work. Maybe ill tear mine apart AGAIN to board everything up. As for custom painting im not into that. I would just keep the original colors but polish the hell out of it.
But you did do a clean job on your painting.

The electronics side of the mod is fantastic but I'm not sure on the pain job mainly because the top of the unit. I'm also going to make a white Mega Drive this summer but I'm planning on keeping the black ring and gold 16 BIT original since this gives the console so much personality. Like you I'll be using vinyl stickers for the Sega logo and official Japanese Mega Drive logo. I bought them from Sega a few years back.

 

The problem with the 16 bit and the case at all was the damage it has, it was pretty beaten up and I do the full white with vinyl spray to cover all the scratches it has, even the 16 bit does not have any color it was fade and was completely black. This is not my personal Genesis it was one of the 3 I got from a lot I bought from Ebay and the seller just trow everything in the box without any wrap because the system where sold as not working, but all of them work they where just dirty as hell and the metal inside was all rusty, that's why I do a full work on it. I'm now thinking what to do about the other two, another model 1 with the high definition graphics circle and a serial port on it, and a model 2.

 

I have a few Mega Drive systems too from bulk buys. For this reason alone I want to mod one. I'll probably only do a paint mod go be honest.

 

Nice work! A suggestion ... instead of stickers ... try vinyl paint mask ... and airbrush the Sega logo and other artwork on and clear it.
